The 2 confirmed options for memory are....
8GB DDR3 1600 (2x4GB)
16GB DDR3 1600 (2x8GB)

Three memory slots?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
The specs say...
Two 204Pin SODIMM sockets, support for DDR3 1600MHz* (Real operation frequency depends on FSB of processor)
Expandable up to 16GB, depends on 4GB/8GB SODIMM module
We need to clarify that. A typo for 3 slots I think.... -

Really curious about the battery life of this device. Do you think 5 hours of web browsing is possible, or should I request for a 4702MQ for better battery life in exchange for performance?
-
The 4702MQ won't affect battery life much at all. It will just run a little bit cooler when taxed and use a little less power. This is based on the Ivy Bridge 35W quad core vs 45W quad core, and assuming it will be very similar.
-
Interested in battery life as well. Weight isnt' as bad as I thought (my T5010 is 13" in a 14" chassis and weighs near the 5lbs mark as well) but battery life is a concern for me as I'm sure the charger would add significant weight to the package.
-
Yay it's out!
Question re: the screen--- so does "LED Anti-Glare Screen (1920x1080) w/ AHVA (Advanced-Hyper-View-Angle)" mean that it's the IPS that everyone's been speculating? -
Man, just ordered an MSI GE40 last week because I didn't know how much longer this was going to be, now kicking myself in the .
-
Sounds like it: AUO Will Return to Profitability in 2012, Display Chief Says -- Tech-On!
It's AUO's version of IPS I guess. Sounds like the technology was derived for smaller mobile devices so hopefully power consumption is minimal.
Only thing I can find at AUO's site is this, and very minimal info: http://www.auo.com/?sn=149&lang=en-US&c=34&n=139
Although not sure if that's it since it only has brightness of 200 cd/m2. -

That sounds kind of strange. Didn't LightningPL check his panel and say it was the Chimei N133HSE-EA1, which is the same used in the Zenbook Prime? I suppose Sager might use a different LCD if its compatible and costs less, but hopefully it will be decent. Even so, if the Chimei display is compatible I can just install it myself if the AUO one isn't as good.
-
So currently we don't know if the one xotic is selling is IPS?
Yeah the system looks good spec-wise but man is it heavy... -
win32asmguy Moderator Moderator
Seems pretty light to me. But then again I lug around an M6600 + 240W power supply all day so I am probably a little biased.
The W230ST probably weighs a bit more because of the large copper heatpipes to keep everything cool. -
In the interest of full disclosure, take note of there being no windows 7 support in the official specs.
As I understand it, the problem lies with the intel 7260 chip being sold, in various places, as either standard or an optional upgrade. (No windows 7 drivers available yet.)
But don't believe me, take a glance over here if you're too lazy to google the issue Drivers for Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Card?
For those of you who flat out resent being forced onto windows 8 as I do, I suggest purchasing a different wifi option. Alternatively, if you haven't made up your mind to hate windows 8 yet, I very highly recommend the Start8 dock ( Windows 8 start menu returns with Start8 from Stardock!) and a rename of 'This PC' in the filesystem to 'My Computer' to get you up and running semi-comfortably as soon as possible.
I have zero kickbacks and zero interest in selling or backstabbing sales here. Just want to stem some of the flow of tears that I suspect might be coming soon since these issues haven't been ironed out yet. -

Nothing saying for sure its IPS, if thats what Sager does include then it will say so like the NP4650 and NP6652. They could upgrade the specs before it starts to ship, but nothing so far. -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
Thanks for the recommendation on Start8. I've been on Windows 8 for 6 months or so and have used Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements, it also gives you boot to desktop and the start button, just another option to consider. -
Free (+open source) > paid, so by all means, recommend that instead.

I am guessing it is the AUO B133HAN03.0. Some specifications are located here: AUO B133HAN03.0 Overview - Panelook.com
That would put it not quite as good as the display in the Zenbook Prime, but still quite a bit better than alot of the other options. -
So Sager NP7330 will have different display panel from Clevo W230ST?
-
Well that is a bit dissapointing, it is still IPS though right? Maybe I will just buy the barebones from RJtech when they release it.
-
That looks like a good panel actually. 85deg viewing angle, 350 cd/m2 brightness, 700:1 contrast. Only thing that concerns me is 25ms response time, but that is (TR/TD) which I believe is rise/fall of black to white and white to black (10% to 90%). (Here's a good read: http://www.rongendisplay.com/upload/RONGEN050-A20.pdf) Most LCD's list grey to grey which is a much faster response time, so even if it's 16ms it's plenty fast for a 60Hz refresh.
The other good news is that it's 2-lane eDP which means there should be plenty of options available.
Not really disappointing. From what I've been reading it's more like a low power IPS screen. IPS consumes more power, this is just AUO's technology and not quite the same as IPS. Considering it's being used in low power mobile devices that demand high resolution, low power, and great viewing angles, I think it's a good sign. -
It has a really long response time though compared to the Zenbook panel though which I don't know if I am OK with.
-
My Samsung ATIV Book 7 has the CMN N133HSE-EA1 display panel and I like it very much.
-
Definitely nice panel. If you look though it consumes 2W more
response time does concern me a bit but we'll just have to see before making any judgement, because response times are always funny beasts that can mean little to nothing in the end. -
And just to put things into perspective, the Razer Blade with 1600x900 LCD, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Windows 8 costs $2000. W230ST with same config except 1080p screen costs about $1350. So unless 0.5" thickness and a few ounces are worth $700 to you, this is the laptop to get imho. Also if they eventually offer a 900p option, that will likely reduce cost by $50 or so.
-
The W230ST seems so close to my perfect laptop...it has the resolution, processor, and cost I want but I can't ignore it's massive thickness. I really thought it would be thinner at only 4.4 pounds. Do you know what it's battery life is? How loud is the laptop/fans when it is idle?
-
Hey Everyone,
Just to clear a couple of things up
1) Yes the AUO panel being used is still IPS, but IPS is a brand held by LG, so every other manufacturer has to use their own "Branding" on it, which is what AUO is doing. Its still the same basic technology used in screen construction.
2) The 7260-AC has Windows 7 drivers, at least these odd windows 7 drivers we get from Intel for these things and have been putting on all our machines. So we don't see the issue there
Overall its an awesome new laptop, I'll be getting one for my personal to replace my older laptop -
So the panel is the AUO B133HAN03.0?
-
The laptop is 0.5" thicker than the Blade, and has upgrade options, better screen, and likely much better cooling. Won't know about battery life or cooling or fans until users start getting them and testing. Be sure that I will be.
That's what I gathered, thanks for confirming/clarifying. Kind of like TI's DLP tech and Sony's SXRD. Similar tech just copyright issues. Can you confirm which AUO screen it is?
Is it possible to share these Win 7 drivers? Or available for download somewhere? -
We are awaiting the production shells to be delivered, but the Engineering sample was that panel
-
Oddly enough when I looked at the Sager NP7352 earlier in June, the drivers for the " Windows 7 Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Driver for Windows 7 32/64 BIT 16.0.0.18 21-Jun-13 189516 KB" were available on Sager's Driver Download. However, for whatever reason the adapter isn't offered by Sager on the model and it was removed from the listing as of now.
So, I went and typed the exact driver webpage into Google's search and looked at the cached copy of the page, the Windows 7 Driver is present and downloadable (of course I do not know if the driver will work). -
Any word when the 900P panels will be available?
-
Is it possible to put a 120mz monitor for this beast?
-
Ordered mine already and it will ship early next week! I cant WAIT!!
I am debating if I should put 2x120GB or just 1x240GB mSATA SSD in this unit. (I am getting the intel 525 series)
I also will have the 750GB Seagate Momentus XT in this laptop. -
What reseller did you use?
-
Do two smaller drives on RAID0 and it will be faster
-
I used Sager.
so the two mSATA ports are both full speed SATA ports correct? if I used RAID0 would that potentially kill the drives faster vs just using one drive? -
Is there a reason there is no Intel 180GB option for the mSata?
-
It ALMOST doubles the speed of the drives.
[/I] -
Thank you! I did just that and am downloading the driver. I just got a 7260 AC card today and will pop it in my Win 7 NP9150 and see if it works!
-
@HTWingNut or someone else who has one of these systems: could you please post a picture of the power supply with a reference object. Also, I noticed Mythlogic offers the Samsung P841 mSata HD and a 7200 1TB HDD, any chance sager will be offering these upgrades anytime soon? Thanks
-
Is it just sager shipping with the: AUO B133HAN03.0?
Because I've read a few times the panel was going to be: N133HSE-EA1 http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/705795-w230st-13-weve-been-waiting-125.html#post9260082 -
Feel free to verify, but from the intel thread I was lurking in earlier this month, those drivers were actually just the windows 8 driver mislabelled. That's probably why they were taken down.
I would *love* to be proven wrong.
Edit: Source - http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.ph...0-wi-fi-card-for-notebooks.68662/#post-230124 -
I just tried it. Drivers installed and hardware detected but it wouldn't detect any networks. /mad/
If only mythlogic could cough up their Win 7 drivers (ahem - Bat signal)...
-
The LPC Digital website lists
"Removable 8 cell smart Lithium-Ion battery pack 76.96Wh"
is this correct? the other resellers all list a 6-cell battery like your original post. -
What's the heat on this like?
-
Thats a bit sad for graphics, as the Chimai is supossed to have 8 bit (16.7 M colors) and the AUO B133HAN03.0 only 6 bit (262k colors).
AUO B133HAN03.0 Overview - Panelook.com
Can someone confirm that the new screen is only 6 bit? -
So which are the screen/panels that are going in the units shipped by Xoticpc?
