Still probably likely to be driver issues. Common culprit is the display driver from my experience. I had the issue happening to me but a recent OS reinstall cleared it right up.

Is there anyway to set like a profile for some really undemanding games so when they're on battery power they use the intel 4600? games like left 4 dead 2 with low graphics im sure would run on it, i just cant be bothered to set it in nvidia control panel every time im on battery.

You can add a context menu to choose the gfx card you wanna run the game on in the nvidia options.
Another way is to set multimedia or quiet mode in control center, and I think the iGPU will then be used automatically.

Did anyone try Prema's new BIOS with 2133Mhz RAM yet? I'd like to know if the W230ST makes full use of it (and at what voltages it runs).

thank you for your help. After I look a bit more, I found CPT CLAA133UA03 screen, which seems to fit perfectly (30 pin, mounting holes on top and bottom and data connector placed on the left side).
The only problem is that it looks like TN type screen instead of IPS which may be a big picture quality decrease...

You can try in Nvidia Control Panel. Under Manage 3D settings, then the Program Settings tab, select the game you want then select the preferred graphics processor and set it to Integrated graphics.

Yeah thats what im doing at the mo, just becomes a pain having to change it back to the dgpu everytime im on battery. Im just gonna set the games that the 4600 can max to it (basically just age of empires hd.. and thats it) and leave it at that.

New owner here. And to preface, yes I did use the search function, but with a huge number of results... I figure it would just be easier to simply ask my questions and hopefully someone can help, or point me in the right direction.

I ordered my NP7330 without an OS. When I received it yesterday, I successfully installed Win8.1 on the SSD by mounting my USB (and have moved re-located most of the Users folders to the HDD). FIRST QUESTION, should I also relocate my 'Desktop' folder to the HDD (or is this folder like the 'AppData' in the sense that it would cause more problems than good if I relocated it to the HDD)?

Also, I ordered this laptop without an optical drive (to reduce weight). A 'System Drivers & Utilities' disc still did arrive with the laptop. And so I have figured that these drivers for my hardware should all be online anyway. But, SECOND QUESTION, where would I go for drivers? I have noticed that the Sager site has separate drivers from the Clevo site. So I am not sure which of the two sites to dl my drivers from. Also, after reading some of the search results, it seems sometimes people have issues with drivers directly from vendors (such as a driver straight from Nvidia may cause issues, and so the video/display driver from Sager's site is instead recommended). What would you all suggest? Sager's website for drivers? Clevo's site?

Really appreciate the help, and am glad that this thread exists. Lots of useful stuff here.

    1. You shouldn't have any issue moving your desktop folder over as it's not likely you've installed any applications to it. You may have broken shortcuts you have to relink or delete though as they may not point to the same directory anymore.

    2. Stick wit the manufacturer of the system for the most part, Sager. Drivers from Nvidia or the like could have issues as they're not specifically designed for your system but for the most part don't cause much issue. If something pops up that seems driver related, uninstall and just reinstall the one from Sager for the sake of it working correctly. Sager will always have the latest stable release on their downloads page.

    Thanks a lot!

    One more question...
    If I have this wireless card: Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 802.11ac 2x2 Plus Bluetooth 4.0
Which driver from Sager should I get? (I am running Win8.1) ... When I am looking at the available drivers for the NP7330, I am not sure which of the following I need (or possibly both)?
    1. Integrated LAN Driver for Windows 8.1 32/64 BIT
    2. Intel Wireless LAN Drivers for Windows 8.1 32/64 BIT

Like for the first driver above, I don't know if I need that. And for the second one above, does that cover Intel's 7260 w/ BlueTooth?

Lastly, I am pretty sure that I'm not supposed to dl the Realtek or Qualcomm ones right?? Sorry, this may seem obvious. I just want to get it right the first time.

Its Intel so you dont get Either Driver.

Go to intels Website and get the Drivers for that wireless card there.

Actually you need both, one is for ethernet (wired connection) while the other is for your wireless card.
But you can get a more recent version on intel's website, true.

Anyone of you having issues with Crucial SSD?
I was thinking about the M500 240GB mSATA that I could buy for a very reasonable price over here.
Samsung's are still too expensive to justify the performance gap.

Anyone has problem with the sound driver on Windows 8.1 ? My sound often went off when I put the PC to sleep, then I couldn't load any mp3 with WMP. I had to restart the PC everytime to fix it.

Also I had a shutdown issue. Each time I choose to shutdown, the computer just restart by itself and I have to choose shutdown again to make it turn off for good. Anyone got any ideas what cause this?

Never had a problem with Crucial here either. Out of curiosity though, where are you? I'm in Aus and you can actually get the 250GB Evo Msata for 20 dollars less than the 240GB M500 Msata (without specials or discounts).

    @AshK: Italy!
Here the 240GB Crucial M500 mSATA is sold at about 120€, the 256GB Samsung Evo mSATA is over 200€, and that's because It has recently been placed in stock (even Amazon didn't had it since last week).

Dear Friends, have a question to you.

Have w230st TPM chip in stock?

Eurocom offers with TPM like option for USD132, nobody other offer it. And speak nothing about TPM.

    Thank you

There is no TPM chip on these boards...it's either an other production run or an external solution.

(question between 840 evo and m500)
I have both (840 evo 2.5" -msata is the same- and m500 msata), no real percevable difference in my opinion, or not enough to justify a 80€ price premium.. I could do benchmarks if you want, but I switched my photographs biblio from one to another and have nothing to complain about, blazing fast :)

My screen started to bleed more and more the last few days, it became really visible even on low brightness while I had alsmot nothing to begin with :-/
Do you guys think anything can be made ? Appart from the obvious, replacing it.

I wonder if it could be caused by heat, as I'm using a lot the computer next to the fireplace recently.. It could get to 40°, but it's just my guess.

Gday guys, I have ordered on of these machines and will post feedback ASAP. Although the W230ST looks like it wouldn't do much from what I've seen it has a lot of power. Could anyone recommend undervolting for temperatures or shouldn't I bother? Cheers

Undervolting has proven to be pretty popular and doesn't really impact performance in any noticeable way, saves you some battery juice, and lower temps. No downside really as long as you aren't opposed to doing the process.

It's very easy with the XTU software, nothing too technical (you can just undevolt the cache, cpu and graphics by 80mV and you should be on the safe side). As mentionned before, there's no real drawback, I would also strongly advise to do it (you win a lot in thermals)

Hello everybody. This thread is so long, so I'm going to ask you some stuff:

    1) What do you say about keyboard? Is it really so good? How do you rate it comparing to keyboards in MacBooks, Thinkpads, Elitebooks and similar?
    2) What about heat and noise? I would like to know if in daily use (using office and surfing the web on flash based sites) it is quiet and cool or not.
    3) What about Linux compatibility?

    Thank you

FYI, I would recommend reading this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...arket-upgrades/235824-undervolting-guide.html

It is old, and RMClock doesn't work with any CPUs newer than the Core 2s, but the concept is still there. Stress test each voltage until the computer crashes, then increase the voltage and stress test for an extended time to determine if that voltage level is safe.

Do not panic if the stress test software (such as Prime95) reports an error or crashes, or BSOD occurs. That means the voltage level was too low.
