So, a question for those of you that have the NP7280, how "future proof" do you see your purchase as vs the new SB systems ?
I know nothing is gaurenteed, just a general question. Yea, I want my cake and to eat it also, just trying to hedge my bets here. -
Dual 485M will be good for longer than I can possibly predict.
-
-
Gaming-wise, the 3Ghz desktop i7 is still more than any game needs. For editing, the Sandy Bridge CPUs are going to dominate the previous gen parts, and are worth the wait. -

There will not be a SB laptop with these GPU options though for quite some time (At least that is my bet)

Only 2 companies would provide a SNB SLI laptop, Clevo and Alienware. Alienware will definitely not do a desktop cpu but the M18x, if it exists, will most likely be CF or SLI with the mobile SNB parts
Clevo will most likely have 2 models. One with a laptop SNB part (x8100 successor) and one with a desktop (socket 2011) part (x7200 successor). That is assuming that Clevo will want to offer both, which they may not - notice the x8100 is pretty much discontinued now that the x7200 is out. If they are indeed waiting to do an LGA2011 part that will be out mid next year I am guessing. -
In regards to the post earlier in this thread, brianvp had asked about a desktop SNB in a clevo model. I'd read that, but wasn't thinking about this from a graphics card viewpoint. Although an SLI/CF edition makes sense.
harmattan, your explanation about clevo's timing of releases seems to be dead on. At least historically it has been that way for my last three clevo purchases. -
Just got notification that my x7200 is on its way to Australia
Estimated delivery date - 14 Feb 11
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ME!! -
Finally got my order out to me
Sydney, Australia.
This has probably been covered and apologies for not being able to find it - but is there a way to get all the speakers to function when using youtube. and not just run in stereo. etc. -

Anyone have a Centrino 6300 w/ Win 7 on their x7200? I cannot get the Wi-Fi to stay enabled upon boot.
In the intel Wi-Fi utility, I have the option to "Automatically enable Intel WiFi Technology on system startup" checked. However, every time I boot regardless if a configured wireless network is in range or not, I always need to "enable" the wifi card to connect to the network.
TIA,
Jeff -
NM, just spoke to Xoticpc and seems they do. -
), I'm pretty happy.
I didn't pay the rush fee, but I did pay with a credit/brokerage card which doesn't get me the cash discount but goes through immediately. Figured cashback would have saved me around $100, but I get about the equivalent of that in points from my card anyway.
Can't wait to get this sucker. -

Just a note to say these Clevo x7200 and Sager NP7280's have been shipping in about 3 days after your order without paying the rush fee....

First person I know of with CF 6970m, do post some benches
Did you get it from EuroCom? -
Actually I ordered from Hawkforce in Germany who imported it from Eurocom... The CF is 450€ cheaper than GTX 485m SLI...
With the I7 960 first 3D MARK 06 run 20.700 points. But was just a first run out of the blue.

This is what I'm going to pick up later tonight =]

Don't think there is a laptop to make you more happy than that will. Congrats!
-
I hope so
. We´ll see after testing if everything works fine. Will do a review with pics and benchmarking over this weekend.
-
Eagerly waiting for your review!

Aikimox, as a reseller now, when do you expect to get 6970m's yourself to sell?
-
Ooooooh!
CF 6970m's!
Anxiously waiting for the review as well.........
-
but i did notice for the first time the wi-fi light blinking as a HD indicator light would react. it's the first I've seen it. I assume it's just the transmission of data. I've just never seen it do it. -
Also Ch 7 of the manual lists Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Windows Mobility Center as a way to turn it on/off. Dunno if this affects the enabled state at boot/startup.
Finally, the driver itself has a "Power Management" tab which allows the computer to turn off the device.
I'm going to try different values and see if I can find the "magic" configuration.
Thanks,
Jeff -
If he has them from Germany, how long do you guys think it will take for our USA resellers to get the 6970M? Also what was the price?
-
Just pulled the trigger and bought one these bad boys....got a offer for my Alienware today which makes this much more affordable for me.

Yah I pulled the trigger on one with SLI 470M, but seeing this 6970m already in Germany....I am really considering canceling my order. I would love to see those 6970 up tomorrow! But I'm guessing they won't be up until Monday.
-

Then how is EuroCom pulling it off? Aren't they just another reseller?
-
Just a quick overview:
Til now everything works fine so far - 3DMark06, Vantage, Unigine Heaven, Lost Planet 2 etc. Crysis and Metro are playable with highest settings.
Here is a screenshot of GPU-Z that I took just a few seconds ago...
Review might take a few days, because I´m trying out and gaming some more.

However, if you want to be barebones (or at least ensure you have the latest), download matching drivers and install them in the same order you have on that CD.
Note, you can also "skip" anything. For instance, if you don't care about the fingerprint reader, touchpad/volume control, or the web cam, don't bother installing those drivers. You'll have unrecognized items in Windows Device manager, but it won't really matter if you don't use them. -

.
-
If so, you may want to use the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver (10.1.0.1018) as it may have some slight performance advantage over the older Matrix Storage drivers. -
I still don't see any drivers or other updates for 6970M's on Clevo's website...
The latest info from Sager is " It's in progress but no ETA yet". At least there's some hope -

Well tell Sager EuroCom is making them look bad!
