Can anyone recommend which network card to get ? Also has there been a video review posted ?
-
Go with the Intel 6300 if you can, or at least anything above the stock. No video review yet as far as I can tell.
-
I've got the 6235, because I rely on Bluetooth for keyboards and mice. I am impressed with its performance, but the only reason I bought it was for 5GHz support. If you don't need 5GHz support, WiDi, or "Bigfoot Killer"'s secret sauce, I would say why not go with the stock wireless? It's probably either a Broadcom chip (which tends to be pretty reliable anyway) or Atheros (which is what Bigfoot uses under the hood anyway). I'm curious now to know what the stock wireless card really is...
Also, about a video review... is there anything you'd want to see in a video review that you haven't seen in the pictures or the one.de video review? I could easily take some HD video and throw it up on Youtube, but I personally prefer to read written reviews myself, so that's what I put online. -
Just a quick update before I head to bed... just got done playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive beta for a while... plays on high settings pretty smoothly. I didn't have an FPS display on but I would say it spent most of the time above 30fps with only occasional dips below 30 on high settings at 1080p resolution. That being said, CS:GO doesn't seem to be as graphically intense as other recent releases. I'm sure that debate is going to hit the internet as more people pick up the beta or the final version when it's released on the 21st. Of course, the game is just 15 dollars, so what do you expect...
-
If possible I would like to see close up video of the laptop itself. Stuff like the keyboard, touchpad, and general overview of the hardware. It will help give me a better idea of the build quality. If you can also include your opinion on its cooling and performance that would be great as well.

BigFoot Killer NICs are far more superior to Intel's.
The cheapest BigFoot NIC is better then top of the line Intel 6300.
Maximum PC | Head to Head: Bigfoot Killer Wireless-N 1102 vs. Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
Don't listen to those mad people who suggest keeping stock Wireless card. -
Assuming one would like latency instead of range
-
And assuming this joke review in the provided link actually is more than marketing rubbish. So the only real advantage of the card can be shown via a Bigfoot developed benchmark.... right.....
Why did they not check a couple of games? -
Ok, how about this review then ?
AnandTech - Bigfoot
Intel's 6300 has the range medal and is on par with the BigFoot for data transfer.
The BigFoot crushes all the other cards on latency. -
Let's not forget they are comparing top of the line INTEL with a low end BigFoot. BTW intel is Triple Stream(3x3) while Bigfoot 1102 is only (2x2)
-
Ah of course, just stated it roughly ^^
-
Does anyone know if there will be a 15.6" version of this machine hitting the market soon and what its model number will be?
-
If you don't mind me requesting a couple things for the video review you might make, could you go over the few things I've questioned before? General cosmetics such as keyboard, mouse pad buttons, texture of the laptop, any kind of possible physical strain tests like pushing down on the wrist pad. Also(if you don't mind) could you show the insides? How the heating pipes are layed out, etc. That's pretty much all I can think of right now. But either way, if you could make a video and post it, that would be super cool

Hi, I just got my W370ET yesterday after near a month of waiting!
I have just made a video to help buyers out there make their decisions. The video link is here:
Clevo W370ET Review, Elders Scroll Skyrim - YouTube
Overall I'm pretty impressed. I will answer any queries in my Youtube video.
(BTW my 3DMark06 score = 15,200) -
Thank you! +rep
Your video gave me that last little push I needed. Will be ordering this over the Asus G series. It's a little cheaper and I can use the extra cash for an SSD! -
Thanks for your video! Really helps with the visual part of it. May I ask you for the settings you used for Skyrim? I did hear you mention it but I was wondering if I could get it detailed in writing
-
Skyrim was on max. Basically resolution was 1920x1080. Anti Aliasing and Anthropic filter was 4x and 8x respectively.
-
Great! Thanks again for your video

Hey folks! I have a quick question for those who are more knowledgeable than me in terms of screen quality. I plan to get this from a Canadian distributor called Reflexnotebook.ca and the first available option is the screen quality(color specifically).
The main question is, should I stick with the normal stock screen or upgrade to the $186 90% color gamut screen? After writing a huge comment about how I edit RAW photos and edit videos, and more importantly, play video games
, I realized my decision would only come down to 2 simple choices.
Yes or
no. So, I just want to simply ask: Is it worth it and should I get it?
-
I don't think it's worth the upgrade. I might be wrong though. But to me, the basic screen is just gorgeous. It's a 1920x1080 resolution.. which itself is very detail and good.
I have a Dell Latitude E6420 for work, which is a pretty new laptop, but the W370ET screen quality is just farrrr more better.
For most laptops the Matte screen is usually considered an ugrade so it is thus more expensive. However, for W370ET, the Glossy and Matte Screen is the same price!! So go for the Matte screen!! -
Yeah, that's actually exactly what I've been thinking. My friend recently got a NP9130 and even though it's a 15" and the color gamut might be different(probably around the same percentage though), it's beautiful. The 1920 x 1080 is amazingly sharp and the colors are rich(in my opinion compared to other displays I have). So I actually don't think I'll be forking out $180 for some extra saturated color..
Unfortunately for me, it seems like the matte upgrade is an extra $30.30. After having many "crystal" clear screens for laptops, I thought it would be pretty stupid to go with a matte screen and ruin the awesome quality of a 1920x1080 screen but after seeing my friends's matte, I was sold on the spot about how amazing it looks while being able to prevent glares.
So all-in-all, I guess I'll just get the basic upgrade to the matte and save some cash  -
Put my order in yesterday afternoon for one of these. Was considering the P170EM for quite a while, but decided the extra ~$1000 wasn't worth it for the amount of gaming I do. Coming from a Sager NP5797 (T9600 / nVdidia 280M,) so should be quite an upgrade. Ordered from LPC Digital, already sent to the factory for build.
-
What's the sound like on these (speakers/headphones), are they as bad as the P150/w150 series?? This seems like a nice step up from the those machines!
-
Hey guys, I got another real quick question if you don't mind. This one is quite a simple one
Should I get the stock 8GB RAM or upgrade to the 12GB? I was able to cheap out on some other parts so I save some money but since I'll have some spare change left, should I use it to upgrade to the 12GB or will there be no real difference? The 2 biggest power user will be high quality gaming and 1080p video rendering.
Thanks in advance for all! -
8GB will run faster because it will run in dual channel. while all resellers claim 3 ram sticks will run in dual channel(I think), in reality only two sticks will run in dual channel and then the third will run in single channel with the first two sticks. To sum up 8 Gb will perform noticeably faster.
I can assure you that you don't need more memory unless you edit or create stuff with Photoshop, CAD, Premiere etc.
Memory combinations sorted by performance:
1. 16GB in Dual Channel
2. 8GB in Dual Channel
3. 12GB in Single channel or 1.5 channel if you will. -
So if I did have 3 RAM sticks(4GB x 3), would it actually make it slower compared to just a stock 2 channel 8GB? Or would it be as fast as the dual channel PLUS another 4GB of RAM?
-
3% slower, give or take. You will not feel a difference thanks to the speed of RAM sticks now.
-
Hey guys
I'm about to pull the trigger on the w370et but I have a few questions first. My main points are to get the 660m and have a good cooling system. It seems from reading this thread that the cooling system is good for the w370et so I'm not too worried. Would you guys suggest any other laptops to look at first? How would this laptop compare with the msi ge70 or any other laptop with the 660m?
Also I am debating buying from mythlogic and lpc digital. Would you guys think the extra cost would be worth it if I go with Mythlogic?
Also the P151em can be equipped with a 660m from Mythlogic so I am also interested in that system....so many choices....
thanks! -
I'd say it's the best 17" notebook with a soldered discrete GPU. It has better build quality and battery life than the MSI, but has worse audio and is slightly heavier. LPC digital should be a lot cheaper, especially if you call them for a discount.
-
So is it worth losing the certain percentage of speed in order to have 4 extra GB of RAM? The way my question is worded makes it sound like it's a bad thing but I'm actually really asking if it's worth it or not
-
If you're not going to use the extra RAM, no. If you are, then yes. If you don't know how much RAM you need, then you probably don't need it.
-
Exactly.
It's a yes or no. Need it? Buy it. You don't? Then don't buy it. -
Hi guys.
Having a dilemma here. I want a new laptop and after looking at different options I landed on a Clevo W370ET (close call with Asus G75).
Right now I have two options. I can wait 3-4 weeks for the option with an Intel Core i7-3610QM and 12 gb memory to get in stock or stick with i5-3210M and 8 gb memory which already is in stock. Price difference is roughly 100$ (or 1000 NOK if anybody's familiar with it). Is the price difference so low it will be worth waiting for? I have plans to keep the laptop for approximately 2 years and it will be used for basic stuff (surfing web, watching high quality 1080p videos etc). But I also plan to use it for some strategy games (i.e. StarCraft 2, upcoming SimCity), and possible as a test environment for Windows Server 2012 (12 gb memory might be handy with several VM?).
I also plan to buy Intel 6200 (for WiDi). Is the wlan card easy accessible? Are all memory slots easy accessible?
For those who want to see the complete specs of the two different Clevos:
Clevo i7
Clevo i5 -
If you want to play strategy games then get the quad. Those games are pretty CPU heavy. There are 3 RAM slots. You can access the first 2 by removing the panel at the bottom of the notebook. To access the 3rd slot and the WLAN card, you have to take off the keyboard, but that doesn't look too hard.
-
Yes I agree.
BTW GTA4 eats up the CPU, and GTA5 is probably going to beat the hell out of it too... better off getting the best possibly option now, instead of saving a little bit of money -
Thanks R3d and jaug1337, you guys convinced me it will be worth waiting for the Clevo with i7. Hopefully removing the keyboard won't be too hard, in that way I can easily install Intel 6200 wlan card.
-
You are most welcome.
You'll be thanking yourself in the end as the Quad Core i7 is just so much more future proof than any Dual Core will ever be -
XoticPC uploaded a review of the NP6370!
Sager NP6370 (Clevo W370ET) Video Review by XOTIC PC - YouTube -
awesome thank you for the link! I'm 99% sure I want to buy this laptop. Now I have to force myself to spend money lol.
-
Good video. Mine shipped last Friday, the waiting is the hardest part. Should be here on Monday.
-
Got Mine just this week after a week of waiting... and all I can say is that i'm really impressed and the screen is the best selling point... although I ordered mine with a Mechanical HDD, I wished I ordered it with an SSD..
-
How long did it take for you to receive the laptop? From the day you ordered it till when you had it delivered.
-
I just ordered! I had trouble deciding between lpcdigital and rjtech, but I just chose lpcdigital.
-
Just got my girlfriends computer (Clevo with i5). The display is great, but the overall feeling of having a quality product in front of me is lacking. Anyhow, I'm sure I will be satisfied with it when my own is arriving (i7) because of the low price. To everybody who's waiting for this computer can be happy to have made a great deal!
-
Can you be more specific on this point? What is lacking?
Also UPS sucks. My laptop has been in my city since Wednesday night at midnight, but they aren't going to deliver until Monday because that is the "scheduled" delivery date. Customer pickup is also not an option as they have to make at least one attempt to deliver.
-
Could someone tell me if the Wireless LAN card is user upgradeable? I'm not sure and I'd rather get an upgrade now if its not possible to do so down the road.
-
Yeah it is. You gotta take off the keyboard to replace it though.
-
The whole computer is made of plastic which is the main point of my impressions of quality. It's hard to pin it, but the computer just doesn't give you the feeling you have bought a expensive computer like you prob. would get if you would buy a Asus G series.
Computer stays cold during the tests I have made (SC2 on full HD resolution + Ultra and Minecraft). SC2 runs without lag (2 vs 2), and it's a Clevo with i5.
Biggest drawbacks overall is:
quality impressions / plastic (fantastic?)
fan noise (most noticeable during SC2 when fully maxed out)
If this does not bother you and you don't wanna spend more cash on the more expensive Asus G series, then this would be a perfect buy!
Will it break the warranty to do this? Also wondering how hard it will be to change it, so if anybody have input it would be great! -
How is the sound quality?
