DragonRider862 my headphone output via desktop speakers are fine.
Can't get anything from the SPDIF though, I assume you need an appropriate receiver?
*Update*
Switched the Scorpio Black for Scorpio Blue, vibrations have gone and the 'fan' noise has been minimized, HOWEVER...
There's still a persistent hum that kicks within a few minutes of my laptop being on, on the desktop with no programs running.
Don't know if it's the hard drive or the laptop it self![]()
Grrr this is so frustrating!
-
I have the exact same problem with headphones, you have to press the left side of the keyboard and it will fix the sound. Strange to say the least. Has to be a loose connection/solder somewhere.
-
Yeah, I know you can do that, but it doesn't do much good if it happens again in 30 seconds. It's troubling to hear that it isn't isolated to just me...that means that if I wind up needing a replacement it might just happen again. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a pervasive issue for everyone at some point.

Hello all,
I am the one who met with problems on memtest. Does anyone have experience like me? (running into BSOD with different errors every 2-3 hours and failing to pass the memtest)
I have unplugged the RAM on the back side and it failed again. I am not able to open the keyboard because the screws are too tight and I do not have a good screw driver.
It seems that memtest86+ will perform the same test for several rounds, on the first three rounds, no mistake was made, but it began to appear after the 4th round.
As this is my first sager laptop, after viewing some reviews on sager(not NP6370, but general), I am doubting the longevity of the laptop. How long is it designed to be used without trouble? How about the 30-day return service? -
I think it's the laptop fan, at a lower speed setting as it comes and goes. Weird because it's not a subtle fan noise, more of an intrusive hum! grrr
-
I had a similar issue with some RAM that I bought. Shortly after purchasing the RAM, I started getting BSOD daily, then several times a day. Turned out it was the RAM. You should definitely run memtest with one stick, then the other to find out which one is faulty then contact the reseller that sold you the laptop (assuming the RAM is the stuff that came with the laptop). As was said a few posts back, they may be willing to just ship you a new RAM stick, or wait until you ship the faulty RAM stick back before sending you a new one, either way, you'll be without half your RAM, but you'll still have a machine to work on.
For me, it was RAM I bought from a local shop. PNY cheapo stuff that was on sale. 8GB (2x4GB modules) 1333MHz. One of the modules started showing errors in the 3rd or 4th round of memtest, similar to what you're seeing. When I was talking to the reseller they mentioned that "they had problems with that RAM". I'm wanting to try the "faulty" RAM out in another machine, but haven't been able to get hold of another machine to try it out on. -
RAM is generally the current hardware with the highest failure rates (comparatively). You'll probably wanna check with your reseller, they generally have pretty good service in swapping stuff out for you.
-
it's a little high but you probably want to test the temps on load first, if it's ok there's not much point re-pasting
-
I just received my 6370 about 2 days ago and this morning when I turned it on my fans were on the highest possible setting and I can't get them to stop at all. It's basically just pumping out massive amounts of air while making an awful humming sound constantly. All my temperatures are fine they're sitting around 35-40c.
Has anyone else had this problem or is there something broken and I should just send it back? -
Try hitting the Fn+1 (one button not F1) fan combo
-
Couple more questions... Can I install my own CPU paste to the cpu? I have arctic silver 5 and would like to use it instead of the stock paste.
Finally, with this laptop having a pretty locked down bios is it possible to use intel anti-theft technology.
Thanks! -
I figured that out on my own lol I felt pretty dumb when I learned that, thanks though.

Yes we can!

You're welcome to apply new thermal paste on the CPU and GPU. Just be careful as any damaged caused while doing so isnt covered, but its a pretty strait forward procedure. -
Hi,
I'm trying to find instructions to access the Wireless on this machine ? Any images etc ?
Thanks for looking! -
About my question, I found the following video:
Sager NP8150 Keyboard Removal to access RAM DIMM's under keyboard - YouTube
Looks like if I remove the back / base of the computer and then I'll find the way to pop the speakers protection plastic near the keyboard, then from there I can do it ?
If this is true please let me know!
I'm having issues with KILLER WIRELESS-N 1102 in Linux Ubuntu 12.04 (it's not supported, lot's of drops, etc) and yes I tried too many things and this works fine in windows, other pcs are fine and all that...
Is this compatible ? Intel half Advanced-N 6200 6200agn pci-e wireless card. It's any HALF SIZE PCI-E wireless card compatible ?
This computer has very bad sound / speakers, not sure if this is the soundcard or something. Can I substitute the speakers ? I need "Bass" (I know it's a laptop, but even my old HP had better sound). Could I change the internal audio card too ?
Thanks
-
The seller sent an intel 6300 alongside the computer because the rtl8723ae is real crap on Ubuntu.
Can anyone please tell me where to find the network card? I have just opened the two backpanels and lifted up my two harddrives. Do I need to remove much of the case?
Thank you -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
You may have to remove the keyboard, many Sager models have the wireless connection under it. -
I have figured that out, but im not sure how to remove the keyboard.. Im afraid of ruining it by trying to break it up!
-
If it is anything like the w350etq (and it looks like the two use the same components/similar as chasis) then the keyboard has 5 screws along the top and the bottom simply hooks in. To reveal these screws you have to remove the speaker cover above the along the top. This can be tricky (evident by the fact that mine was shipped damaged) because it snaps in with little plastic hooks. Some retailers sell a tool to aid in this. I would suggest searching this thread for the best method or look at r3d's w350etq review thread to get a slightly better picture.

Maybe one of you guys can help me out I was playing Dota 2 when 6370 just entirely shut off, its not warm at all and the event viewer shows something called Kernel-processor-power event id 37.
The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 9 seconds since the last report.
one of these for each core basically.
and the event for when it shut off just says Kernel Power and the generic message for when the computer does not shut off correctly. -
Got mine a few days ago. I ordered it from MySN.de. they were cool through the whole process. However I'm a disappointed
. The camera is total utter s.h.i.t . Even though specs tell it's a 720p camera it does not support such resolution. Whenever I try to choose 1280x720 it jumps to 1280x1024 at maybe 15 fps and THX doesn't do anything. It's ridiculous for >1k euros laptop. Everything else rocks

Has anybody got their optical output working on their laptop? I bought the adapter and tested on known working kit, but no joy

I was wondering how can the Sager NP6370 gets around 70C - 80C temps with only one cooler while Samsung Series 7 NP700Z7C-S01US gets this same temp with two coolers?
-
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The Samsung is thinner in the back which will inhibit air flow. That may not be the only reason but will have an affect. -
hi guys..
i was wondering if u could convince me to get this sager 6370..
is there any cons of this product?i checked on youtube the xotic review and was interested in this model..
since im coming from an ancient dell c2d, im guessing this gonna be fast enough for day-to-day task and mild gaming?or I should go to lower models? trying to keep it under $1000's if possible
thanks for the advice -
Support.3@XOTIC PC Company Representative
The NP6370 will do a great job at daily use and mild gaming. Depending on which games you plan on playing you could even look into the next step down the NP6175. They are pretty similar to each other except the 6175 uses a GT 650M GPU instead of the GTX 660M here. That's really only going to affect your gaming performance and again will come down to which you plan on playing. -
Hey, I ordered this thing from MySN too! Im eagerly waiting for the tracking number so I may watch it as it approaches my grasp within a week
Im gonna have a fun time playing games on this 17.3" thing. In the mean time, Im gonna be playing on my trusty old signature laptop :3
It will blow you away. Both for everyday tasks, portability, features, price-wise and in gaming - its one of the best (if not THE BEST deal) right now. Comparable models are a lot more expensive than this bad boy, so dont hesitate and order one!
Best bang for the buck + best build quality & easy to clean from all models so far. -
Hey guys. I'm attempting to upgrade the memory in my laptop and am having trouble getting to the dimm under the keyboard. What's the trick to removing it?
-
Hi Guys
I just joined this forum as I officially became a W370ET owner today.
I'm making the transition to this new laptop of mine together with my transition to Windows 8 so I'm feeling a little system shocked atm.
My first question for this lounge:
My VGA button does not seem to do anything, I expected that it would manually switch me between my Intell4000 Integrated graphics and my GTX660, but it doesn't.
I'm pretty much running on the integrated graphics all the time. I'm confident that the optimus technology will switch me the moment I run a game, but for those instances where I want to decide which to use, I want the button to work.
Thanks in advance! -

Congrats on the new system!
What that button will do I believe is to switch your monitor mode. When I hit mine in Win 8 it'll pop open the side pane letting me choose which monitor configuration I want to use when I have multiple plugged in.
For what you're wanting to do, go into the Nvidia control panel under "Manage 3D settings" and in the Global tab change it from auto select to High Performance Nvidia Processor. Good to go. -
Just ordered one from LPC
Seems like it will be a pretty decent machine.
I'm already looking @ a way to cut vent outlet slots on the right side (as your looking @ it from the back) with a CNC and adding some thin blower fans (if I can find the damn things) -
Anyone have a recommendation for a backpack for the 6370 ?
The ones that I keep seeing on the net would allow you to pack the laptop, your desktop, 2 monitors, 2 weeks food supply and clothing to go camping with Les Stroud.
I'm looking for one that is a bit on the less side of things. It will mainly just be for throwing it in the truck, driving to work, then taking it out @ work. I won't be carrying it around much more than that.
Also, there is a thread somewhere on NBR about adding heatsinks to the heat pipes and it lists some very small blower fans that are 4 or 5 mm thick, I can't seem to find it again - anyone got a link ? -
How is the stock screen? Anyone get it and wish they had upgraded?
-
Anyone? Opinions?
-
It's fine, slightly better than the average laptop screens on the market. Also it depends on what "stock" screen the resellers sell. Some have higher grated ones, but overall its nice, but if you do decide to upgrade, you'll get insane quality.

Hi there I am new to this forum and am hoping someone can help me out...I bought a Sager NP6370 / Clevo W370ET about 3 months ago and it stopped working so I sent it in for an RMA and they are telling me that the motherboard and case was damaged but they also said shipping was fine there was no apparent damage from that... and want to charge me over 1000 dollars to fix it. I bought it for 1400 so I don't really see paying 1000 bucks to fix a computer i just bought in august...i might as well pay to get a new one...not here is my question...
I am not a computer know it all but I do have Comptia A+ so I understand how to repair it and can repair it but my problem is i cant find parts...does any one know where they get the motherboard and case at? I checked on line and at Clevo's website but I cant find the place to order these...so I was hoping someone could help me out if they know where to get these at.
Thanks in advance. -
I'm considering getting the Sager NP6370 from Xotic. I've noticed in some pictures, the print on the keyboards look italic, and in other pictures they don't. Can someone confirm whether they are indeed italic?
-
New to upgrading gaming laptops here, can anyone point me towards a guide for cpu upgrading? Looking to fit an i7 in this baby about 1-2 months after purchase.

Hi all,
I have this strange problem on my laptop I have the W370ET running win 7, I boot up the system and try to use desktop but non of the buttons work i.e. windows logo, bottom task bar and icons on desktop. everything is frozen, the mouse moves but I can't click anything, the only way around this is if I ctrl-alt-del and pop up the task manager then suddenly everything is working again.
I have reinstalled windows to try and rectify this problem but no change still this strange glitch.
Can anybody help?
p.s. I have been told this could be a Keyboard driver issue? -
The keys are very slightly italicized, yeah. Nowhere near this italicized, but a little bit.
-
Hey I own the NP6350 (15" version of this laptop) and I it took me some fiddling to figure that button out at first. You are correct in that the button does "enable" modes between the GPU and discrete graphics, although it doesn't actually manually switch them. If you are not running any graphic intensive applications it will continue to use the Intel graphics. I was confused as to which color was which. At first I assumed that green meant on and yellow/orange meant off. It is the opposite and I always leave it on yellow. You can always tell which graphics card is being used by the two light indicators with icons at the right on the keyboard. The battery icon with a leaf growing out of it indicates Intel graphics (green light), and the tachometer icon indicates the nvidia GPU is running (yellow light).
Although you can't just turn on the GPU when you want, you can set it to work with select programs. Go to the nvidia control panel (accessible in the system tray) and select manage 3D settings. There you can manually select the preferred graphics processor (which is set to auto select by default) and you can also set which processor you want to use with each program present on the computer. For example I set "Steam" (and other gaming programs) to always use the nvidia GPU. Whenever I start Steam (regardless of the graphics demand) the computer switches to the 660M GPU. So you can set when you want the 660 to be used and when you don't manually. That VGA button is mainly to disable the GPU to conserve power more than anything else (like the wireless LAN button). Be aware that using the GPU does drain the battery significantly faster than the Intel graphics, but that goes without saying. I just keep an eye on the indicator lights to make sure I exit Steam and switch back to discrete graphics when I am using the battery. Hope this helps... -
In Windows 8 my 3 minijack ports and the USB port on the left side of the laptop do not work. This could be a drivers issue, but because it includes USB and minijack it seems it may be hardware. Speakers and other USB ports work fine. I'm going to fresh install windows 7 and then windows 8 again, being very careful with the order I install drivers (and prevent some of the windows generic drivers) to see if I could make it work. These ports are right on the motherboard, so if I can't get them to work it will mean returning the computer TT. I'll probably post back in the next 6 hours or so with progress.
The system block diagram from the manual, showing that the USB port and the audio jacks are all through the same controller: http://i.imgur.com/zAtr07U.png
edit: windows 7 and drivers painstakingly installed, no power to left USB port or minijack ports, everything else works fine. Dunno if it's worth it to send back or just buy a usb external soundcard. I really like ths laptop, going back to my old one for two weeks would be difficult. -
In Windows 8 my 3 minijack ports and the USB port on the left side of the laptop do not work.
I have the exact same laptop and the exact same issue... Except the issue comes and goes when I use the laptop, but is slowly getting worse. I'm in Europe at the moment but my warranty is in Australia, so until I get home there isn't much I can do. The video card is near that controller too and I think the issue is beginning to create problems with the dedicated video card now. I've had the video card drops out and switchs back to the non dedicated intel graphics during game play.
I've only had the laptop for 3 months so it's a bit disappointing. -
Just received mine 2 weeks ago from Eurocom on EBay (upgradeyourlaptop). Very happy with screen, keyboard and overall system. No problems at this time, no fan noise. Love it so far and Eurocom has been great.
-
Has anyone tried applying thermal compound to this laptop? How easy is it to open this laptop to do so?
-
Its super easy to open. Just take the battery out and unscrew 3 screws holding the bottom panel. As far as applying thermal paste, I cant say, I simply bought the upgraded thermal paste in my configuration. Im sure there are plenty of you tube videos that detail the installation (in different machines though).
If you are concerned about cooling there are other alternatives. Instead of a cooling pad just prop the laptop up about 3/4 of an inch from your desk surface when gaming. I made a simple wooden frame that does the trick. You could use a number of different items to do this, like a few cds or coasters for example. It drops internal temps at least 5-7 degrees C because it allows better airflow to the fan. Although the fan exhaust port is on the rear of the laptop, the intake is on the bottom. If placed directly on a flat surface it doesnt allow sufficient intake to cool adequately.
Run Furmark and during the burn in lift the laptop off the surface an inch. You'll see how much better cooling you'd get by simply raising it up a hair. I rarely hear my fan hit max since I began propping it up like that. Just a thought...
