Do you guys have any tips on things to do while we're waiting for our computers? You know, other than screaming, tearing our hair out, frantic nail biting.....stuff like that?
Mr. Mysterious -
Looking for an awesome wallpaper is what I'm doing haha, it's very difficult to find one I like.
-
pacing in circles, works well for me as well. Try waiting, a month for the sandy bridge issue to be fixed, then changing your payment option the day before ur pc is about to go into production, then waiting a week more for the wire transfer to go through. I took the day off of work tomorrow for my birthday, but I wish I was there now to distract me. =(

Awww you poor thing. In perspective, it seems like I haven't been waiting all that long, and I won't have to.
Mr. Mysterious -
Wow, I'm kind of suprised that xotic would be fighting for your business, considering how many orders they are getting and how long the wait list is. But I will laugh at you if I still get mine first.

Lol, bring it!
Mr. Mysterious -
Made my purchase today from XoticPC. Good times ahead... Thanks everyone for your insight and reviews.

Good choice! Congrats and welcome to the group. Now the waiting game begins...
Mr. Mysterious -
Will be interesting to see who gets their 8130 first out of the group who have ordered over the last day or two. My order number is lower than Mr. Mysterious but I wasn't promised any kind of rush deliver; although, I may call and inquire about this tomorrow...
-
I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that rush delivery isn't going to make a difference... It will probably work something like this:
Xotic: Hey, uhh, Sager, we have this enigmatic customer that ordered a computer. He is a little impatient, can you hurry up with his computer?
Sager: Nope.
Xotic: Awwwww... -
I was thinking the same exact thing....
-
Are you above or below 30447? I'm thinking that they will all be delivered on the same day though... It probably depends on the configuration you select. I got stock parts except for windows 7. This laptop will be so good for batman arkham city and mass effect 3. I've already pre-ordered those as well. And I kind of wish that intel would come out with a really big pci-e mini ssd.
-
My order number is 30451 and my setup is also mostly stock as well. I think you're right, they will probably be shipped the same day but of course geography and shipping method will determine who gets their's first.

Crazy...cat...guy...???
The hell?
Mr. Mysterious -
The email I got from Xotic said that the wait would be 2-3 weeks, and the production would be 10-15 days. So I think it should ship anywhere from April 10th to the 27th. So with a quote from UPS, mine should arrive anywhere from April 15th to May 3rd. But I can wait, because I'm the god-damn batman!
-
Sorry... I fixed it.

...............riiiiiiight.
Mr. Mysterious -
Also the 460m is actually ranked 14 among single gpus, not 6.
-

Ok, single NOTEBOOK GPUS that are not workstation gfx...aka ATI or NVIDIA.
485M
6970M
6950M
470M
480M
5870M
560M
6870M
460M
So after notebookcheck.net has revised their rankings, it's now #9. Bah
Mr. Mysterious -
Oh well... Atleast it still does every game on High or ultra! Anything better is probably just overkill anyways.
-
Mine should be here on Tuesday. Not only is this my first Sager...it is my first laptop in general. Soooo excited!!!
Been using my Iphone for 3 months now as my "computer"....Bout time it came. -
That's a pretty big jump from an iPhone to a custom laptop haha
-
The laptop does come with any nvidia sticker ? xD
I think I saw a NP8130 with a "powered by nvidia" sticker in a review... but donno if it does come with that ;o. -
When did you order yours?
-
Well I did have a quad core Xfire desktop, but that died around Christmas time.
February 11th -
Okk, I am pretty much leaning towards this notebook..
But i have some ques , would be great if someone could help me...
1. How is the stock wifi compared to intel N-6230?
2.which is better 8130's default 60% color gamut matte or Dell XPS's FHD glossy?
> 3. Is there a possibility of another refresh or a price fall at any of the resellers around the month of may or june?? -
People are just getting their first versions of this laptop now, I think a price cut is probably unlikely and refresh is very unlikely.

Thank you! I have to keep reminding myself NOT to cancel my 8130 and order the stock 8150 with W7.
Mr. Mysterious -
I upgraded my NP8130 to NP8150 just because I would like to have an upgrade possibility when the 6970M gets as cheap as ~$400. I can sell my GTX 460M and get that
I don't think I will like the rubber coating of it because I hate dust and I don't wipe my laptop everyday lol. I think it is time for me to go find a microfiber cloth then.. There should be more than power adapter difference between the NP8150 and NP8130 to make it cost $100 more with lesser RAM and lesser HDD. Maybe the voltage regulators on the motherboard is different?
-
I doubt there will be any differences on the motherboard.
To even have different components on the mobo they need two production lines.
We will know for sure the upgrade possibility for 8130 soon enough.
I will still bet on just the power brick difference. -
Thank you for the reply,,
The other 2 ques anyone?? -
Does anyone know how the GTX 460m performs with the game bulletstorm? I still dont know if I want to spend 400€ more on a gpu. Can someone give a good reason why I should buy the GTX 485m instead of the GTX 460m?
Thanks! -
ETA for mine is on Tuesday.
Such a dreadful wait >.< -
Has anyone received the 95% NTSC Color Gamut Matte screen for the 8130 from XoticPC? I read the thread about the various screens but still not sure whether this is worth the $190. Thoughts?
-
The GTX 485m is currently hands down, the best GPU out on the mobile market right now. A good reason to buy it is to future proof yourself for the rest of the years. Another reason is greedinessn13l6 said: ↑Can someone give a good reason why I should buy the GTX 485m instead of the GTX 460m?

, and maybe another reason is wanting to play 95% games at full settings. Lastly, probably bragging rights
But the 460m is still a great card and able to play many games on high settings.
I currently have this screen (not from XoticPC though), and I can say it is very very vibrant, bright and very lovable. It's an unbelivable screen.Scarzy said: ↑Has anyone received the 95% NTSC Color Gamut Matte screen for the 8130 from XoticPC? Don't pay extra, Unreal games will run smoothly on high settings on the 460 mn13l6 said: ↑Does anyone know how the GTX 460m performs with the game bulletstorm? Has anyone else noticed an apparent lack in Bass whilst using the side jack ports. I'm using the Plantronics 367 and there's a noticeable difference in bass when playing the same song on comp vs mobile phone using same headset. I have the latest Realtek HD codecs from Clevo's website.
-
There should be some equalizer settings for you to adjust for more bass.
-
There's the windows media player one but there isn't one within Realtek HD Audio Manager.mrPico said: ↑There should be some equalizer settings for you to adjust for more bass.Click to expand...

Hmm, I can't get mine to wake up hibernate for Windows Home Server to run a backup. I hope that a BIOS update is put out soon.
-
Aww... but I like bass! I guess I can always just wire it through the batmobile instead...Ibbi said: ↑Has anyone else noticed an apparent lack in Bass whilst using the side jack ports. Hi everyone,
I'm having a problem with the wireless connections on my Sager NP8130.
My WAN card does not detect my home and work wireless network even when I've placed my laptop in front of the router. I've opened up device manager and I do see my Wifi adapter connected, it is the Realtek RTL8188CE on PCIE card which is the default model.
I've already download and installed the latest driver on the Sager webpage and even Windows auto-update has told me that the driver version is the most up to date.
Is there something that I'm missing?? I've also disabled the Windows and Norton 360 v4 firewall but the problem remains.
Thanks -
This might sound very basic but have you checked to make sure your wireless card is enabled? It's very easily to disable your wifi without even knowing it. On the 8130 there is an LED on the top right that should be lit up blue I believe.ivanlyf_2011 said: ↑Hi everyone,

You may have hit the fn key to disable it accidently. -
Oh man!
How could I forget about that function button!!?
Yes, my wireless network adapter is now up and running! Thanks Quadcore DV6!!
But why is it that we can't enable it on Windows 7 itself? I did enable, disable and then enable it under the Network sharing centre....
And to think that I know how to build desktops and yet I can't manage my laptop -
The Windows settings control the software aspect of your wifi radio. The function buttons cut it off at a BIOS level -- useful if you need airplane mode or want to save power.
-
You're not alone! I build desktops as well but every so often I find myself scratching my head trying to troubleshoot seeminly simple issues on laptops.ivanlyf_2011 said: ↑Oh man!

Haha yeah
I guess laptops are different in their maintainence. Unlike DIY PCs, we cannot open up a laptop, figure the part that is faulty and swap out the part we need because there's the issue of warranty plus technical knowledge of putting a laptop together and disassembling it is not as widespread as that for desktops.
My 2 cents...
Oh and thanks ludditus for your explanantion. So the keyboard controls affect the hardware at a more 'fundamental' level; the BIOS...... -
From what I can tell retailers are claiming the 8150 has a better cooling system than the 8130 in addition to a beefier power brick. Perhaps a costlier metal mixture in the heatsink or changes to the liquid in the heat pipes.mrPico said: ↑There should be more than power adapter difference between the NP8150 and NP8130 to make it cost $100 more with lesser RAM and lesser HDD. If that's the case, I'm just going to buy the best cooler there is, steal the power brick from a fellow 8150 owner and install the 485M
Ok, no. I'll be happy with my 8130.
