This guy already got his 8130! Good thing he's letting the battery charge up before he turns it on!

Hmm,
So far I'm enjoying the system but what the hell is up with the network card?
My wireless download speeds are way too slow. I've updated everything thus far and am using the stock card.
It's taking 15 minutes to download AVG ....5 minutes to download Steam ....20 minutes to download MSN Live (not at the same time; I tried downloading them separately). I have a 4MB connection...
Any ideas? I should of upgraded the card ...ugh....
System is MUCH smaller than my previous G53/73 units and incredibly light
Edit: Tried using my other laptop (M11X-R1) and it's like x5 faster at downloading. -
uh-oh, I got the stock card too, maybe I should update? Though tbh I can't see why the 6300 or 6230 would be faster since internet provider even gets close to maxing wireless n speed. Could it be something else?
BTW: Congratulations on the new system -
For the network speed,
1. try changing your browser.
2. what is the network link quality?
3. try resetting your card, delete the network data, and restart again.
4.(if possible) try booting up from linux and see if speed remains the same.
windows might just not be liking your network card. -
That's really odd. I have the stock wireless card, and stuff seems to download as fast as my desktop hardwired to the router (its my internet connection thats the bottleneck).
I do believe there are some newer drivers than sager uses for the stock card. (realtek wireless) It probably couldn't hurt to grab them and see if a difference is noted.
Edit: for the one in my system, (the realtek 8188 CE) The drivers can be found here
http://218.210.127.131/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true -
Maybe it's some kind of compatibility issue with the card and the router. Although, usually that would mean that you wouldn't be able to connect to the network at all.
What kind of router do you have? -

Got it fixed, thanks to you guys' help.
I must say guys, this is one of the best laptops I have ever used in my life and I've been through 5 top of the line ones.
The screen is absolutely gorgeous. I can't believe Sager is selling these at this price, tbh ...such a steal.
Keyboard has no flex ...best one I've ever used (this includes MSI/Asus G-Series ones).
It's so light/small ...I'd say it's 25% less bigger than the G53.
I played BF BC2 on ultra and it barely heats up ....
I'll be recommending this laptop to everyone I know who wants a gaming laptop.
The only negative aspects is that the touchpad feels a little cheap compared to the G-Series, but then again, the G-Series touchpads are plagued with problems/failures and you'll be lucky if it works. Haven't really found anything else that I'm not content with.
It's funny because I placed it in my G53JW bag and it's only taking like 60-70% of the space lol. No wonder these are sold out everywhere and incredibly popular
Oh and as for battery, I'm pushing close to 3.5 hours with everything customized on low (haven't tested how much light browsing juice it takes off the 3.5 hours though). -
Nice! Glad you got it fixed and you are enjoying your new laptop.
Looking forward to seeing some pics when you get around to it. -
How are the fans fans on your laptop? Mine idle GPU temp is 37C and the fans turn on at either 38C or 40C and cool back down to 37C. Just curious if this is normal or not.

I'm glad you're happy with your machine. Now I have to keep waiting for mine. It seems like it is going to take forever to get here, but Justin assured me that they'll try to ship it out by the end of this week.
Lucky for me I have an exam day after tomorrrow and another next week to distract me from waiting for my machine!
Wait a minute....

I got free ground shipping CONUS. So, same as you pretty much.
Oh! Here's an important question:
How much of the HDD capacity was used up when you first turned on the computer?
Mr. Mysterious -
but it still isn't released... -
Does anyone know how hard it is to remove the optical drive and install a second hard drive? is that possible on the 8130? I mean I still have a lot of memory left but just for the future, would it be better to try and install a second hard drive or just get an external?
edit: btw this is a great machine, I agree with everything Voodooi has said. The screen is beautiful and the machine itself looks so sleek. I have to force myself to get up and stop using it.
Haven't done anything really gpu intensive yet, I've played DoTA, some games on a gamecube emulator, and Spider-man web of shadows. Everything runs so smooth and looks incredible. -

Anyone? How much is your drive is filled up after you first turn it on??

The wait... Is killing me...

As much as the Intel Cougar Point chipset recall was a pain and caused a lot of delays it has saved me from being stuck with this laptop. The recall was announced 2 weeks after I got this and my 21 day return policy was extended out to April 30th. A blessing for me.
As soon as my 8130 is delivered I'm calling HP to process my return and refund.
Can't wait! -

Phase 2 is just charging/verifying the payment method so that there won't be any problem regarding that. They are just making sure that doesn't delay the shipment. I ordered Feb 8 and it shipped last week friday so yours should be shipping soon

I'm so glad I can finaly replace this piece of crap:

Hi, I don't want to be rude and its almost midnight here. I recently made a purchase on the Sager NP8130 and I accidentally paid through paypal, didn't use paypal echeck and I ended up not getting the cash discount. So I owe xoticpc 3% what I was suppose to save. I never wrote a real check or done a wire transfer. Right now I need a little help to save this little problem. Does XoticPC give a full refund if the payment/purchase does not go through? If they do I will reorder my Sager NP8130 with the proper payment procedure with the 3% cash discount.
-
I'd suggest calling em up and see what they suggest. I'm sure you can work it out to get your money back, and pay in the correct manner, while not losing your spot (assuming you have one already)

Don't worry about it, xoticpc is very helpful and they'll facilitate you with anything you want. You just might have to wait a little longer since you're redoing your order.

Well, by the time I got home it was pretty late. The only time I would contact them is when I am free from class. Thanks anyways.

Should have said, "To the Mystery Van!" -
It came in today!!! I don't have time to get into the nitty gritty but I will vouch for the stock screen: It is beautiful! I have a 26 inch computer monitor from my desktop that I was going to use externally for movies but this is way crisper and has much better colors... Oh and the touchpad feels cheap but you get used to it quick (same material as the plastic shell).
-
Whoa, awesome news Licktown. I'm still waiting for my confirmation too. My eCheck has already cleared.
-
Does anyone know if it will be possible to swap out the keyboard on the 8130 when Sager finally starts putting backlit keyboards in their machines?
I'm going to miss the backlit keyboard on my current laptop and it's the one thing that the 8130 doesn't have. -
Hi,
Got my 8130 from ReflexNotebooks (in canada) yesterday.
Stock except if IC diamond paste, Intel Combo Wifi/Blutooth and no OS preloaded as I had extra keys already.
I'll vouch for most of the comments made so far, screen is gorgeous, trackpad is below average (but not completely awful) and the keyboad is ok, but the layout is a bit weird and will take some getting used to.
One disappointment was that the laptop didn't ship with a driver CD (likely because I chose to have no OS preloaded), so there were ALOT of things to download.
Also, I installed the Nvidia Verde driver (latest BETA) with a "tweaked" inf file, and it all seems to work beautifully.
Overall, the build quality isn't as good as my MacBook Pro, BUT, it's pretty decent, and at this price, yes, it's pretty much a steal!
Oh, and the power brick is big, but not nearly as big as I had feared!! What a relief! -
I'm courious what is that makes the trackpad feel "cheap"?
-
It's more of a feeling than it really sucking... I mean, it seems to track pretty well (haven't had issues with the accuracy or anything). -
-
It was NO FUN downloading a 390MB WiFi driver... -

Back on topic, it seems like the G3 is really underwhelming, based on preliminary tests, with sequential read/writes really disappointing and average 4K speeds. It doesn't even have SATA III!
Looks like it would be the C400 or the OCZ Vertex 3 (not the Vertex 3 Pro, that might be too expensive). Based on what I'm reading, OCZ is cleaning up it's recent history by buying out Indilinx.
