Can the HDD in the optical drive slot be put in RAID?

Unfortunately not.
There is no hardware raid controller on this system.

Along with the above Justin posted on early this morning also:
Sager is offering a new wireless card: Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless-N 1102.
More info here: Killer? Wireless-N 1102
Sager has tested this exciting Gaming Wi-Fi card offering from Bigfoot networks, however they have noticed that on some of the models the hardware Wi-Fi LED indicator does not function. Sager has tested and the card will function as it should 100%, you will need to view if the RF Signal is being turned on / off with-in windows. -
Is there any way to turn this light off for the intels?
I kinda envy the LED light not working, as it blinks madly when I'm doing something with my intel card.. -
Joseph@XoticPC Company Representative
Hah! Not that I know of. Its just a bi-product of the killer card placed in the Sager unit. However you could sell your Intel and purchase a Killer card separately if you want the lights to turn off
-
Do the new Killer Wireless-N 1102 have more range then the Advanced-N 6230 ?
Does it eliminate bluetooth like the 6300? -

Can someone tell me how the keyboard is on these units (someone who has them obviously)? I am going to be doing a LOT of typing on this, so I want to know that the keyboard is comfortable for long hours of repeated use. Thanks!

Is the Killer card available for purchase by itself anywhere yet? My builder doesn't plan to include them as of now because of the fit and finish compatibility problems. I use the desktop NIC and would love to have one in my mobile platform.
-
I would just wait for the 1103 version which is coming out in Q2. Since the other one is an Intel 6200N series equivalent.
-
does Bigfoot Networks Killer come with the Bluetooth together?
-
Due to popular demand we will be adding them shortly to our configurators shortly.
No it does not, going with this option you loose bluetooth. -
Whoops! I guess I could have been more ambiguous with my issue, but I did just in fact notice that the Killer cards are not as capable as the Intel cards. They only really benefit you if you need the stream filtering.
-
Can't wait for these to start shipping. All this anticipation is driving me nuts! Can wait to do some benches, tweaking, and gaming on this rig..

Guys im going to add another 2x2gig of ram into my basic 4gb ram setup into my soon to come 8150. can anyone tell me will the following stick work with the 8150.
Kingston sodimm ram
KVR1333D3S9 / 2G, 2GB PC3-8500 DDR3 1333MHZ SODIMM -
Why not add 2x4GB instead of an extra 2x2GB? Add 2x4GB then sell the 2x2GB installed in your laptop. You don't wanna waste your slots for 2GB rams.
You can get some inexpensive 4GB RAM here:
http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php...3-1333-SODIMM-4GB-Micron-Chip-Notebook-Memory -
I'm pretty sure there are benefits to be had from using all 4 slots as opposed to just 2. Something about channels... I have been going over that question with my reseller and they confirmed it. I'm still not 100% convinced.
Also, buying the 2 extra sticks and putting them in is a LOT less work than what you suggest. -
Uhm... I'm not sure but I think you only need 2 RAMs to utilize Dual Channel. Not sure if 4 will make it better or not since there is no Quad Channel.
It will be a LOT harder for you to sell 4x2GB later too
-
8GB is so cheap now. I had 8GB G.Skill 1333MHz, bought another 8GB for about $65. 16GB, no worries about RAM usage now.
-
Don't forget to disable page file on the SSD
I also disabled mine to prevent more writes, and with 16GB of RAM, we'll never run out of page file on RAM. -
so im assuming the aforementioned kingston value ram should work with the 8150 aite ?
-
Will 2x4gb stock ram on the 8150 work with another 2x4gb g.skill ram pc-10666 I think. (at work can't check, it's the one that was posted before from newegg)
Thinking maybe I should get 2x2gb then add the 2x4gb to reach 12gb?? Will this work guys? -
Where did you find 8 GB 1330 for only 65$?
-
*USUALLY* different RAM shouldn't be an issue, but I have run into problems in the past, so I usually just buy all same if I can.
Newegg has some super deals on G.Skill RAM frequently. They actually just had another deal a few days ago on the same RAM for about the same price. Just keep an eye on the " Notebook and Tech Bargains" section here at NBR. -
What kinda problems have u ran into? My desktop has 5gb lol 2x2gb and 1x1gb. My last dimm slot is faulty on my mobo
-
I don't think they deliver to Canada. I think I'll just keep searching on Canadian websites.
Just found one for 80$ Pretty good... -
There's newegg.ca that's where I got my g.skill ram. -
Speaking about RAMs, any word on the supposedly supported DDR3 1600 MHz's?
-
I'll let you know as soon as I get my laptop in. IIRC the laptop will only support a maximum of 2x2GB modules for whatever reason (from the Clevo manual). Also, in order to actually see the rated speed with the RAM, you have to be able to set XMP or custom timings/voltage in the BIOS, which the 8150 apparently does not offer ATM. Obviously the specs shouldn't be claiming support if the second thing there is true, so who knows until someone tries.
-
Hopefully the XMP will be supported, the BIOS hardly has anything I can tweak.
-
Anyone confirm that the CPU/gpu temps will drop if you remove the stickers on the heatsink? Mentioned in this thread for a different sager model
-
Like what the people said, the white stickers are more like tabs for removing the heatsink..
They aren't located at crucial spots and to be honest these cards run as cool as they can.. Temps are not an issue for this laptop currently..
If my temps go super high(knock on wood), then I will see if removing the stickers may help me lower my temps a bit... -
^^ Good point..
-
Asus G53sw official specs
You might wanna take a look at it, i myself don't like asus -
has anybody gotten any confirmations on their 8150 being made?
Curious, since thursday i got an email about mine being in the shop getting assembled, and expected to be shipped with in a week. -
No word from LPC yet. We were told shipping would start in the middle of March.
-
Yeah but it sounds like they should be shipping this week. Atleast the first round... I hope I get mine through LPC shipped this week... This wait has felt like forever, especially with paying up front.
-
I finally ordered the stuff. Should arrive next week if it does not get held up by the customs for too much:
-
I think that you might have to wait 2 weeks. My NP8130 will not ship until next week if I'm lucky and I pre-ordered on Feb 8.
-
If you only just ordered today, you will probably get it closer to end of Mar/early April, not to mention that you said it has to go through customs.
-
wrong topic.
-
Everyone else is getting Phase 2 updates from Xotic, I wonder if I'll hear from Malibal this week or not...
-
If you ordered in jan. It should be shipping this week or early next week. I forget which thread the malibal rep. said this.
-
I feel less special....
lol, jk. Hope you guys find the machine as awesome as I did! -
Keep in mind that I ordered it from Schenker Notebook, which is a German reseller. Also the "next week" I mentioned is only based on the expected delivery date I got from them - calendar week 11, which is next week.
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
I dont know why some resellers are stating early this week when Sager themselves are not receiving machines until Wednesday (Maybe Tuesday night). Sager said shipments will not start until Thursday.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Hmmm, not exactly Justin. The first shipments are going out today. Sager has had them since last week, but of course needed to test them before releasing them to production.
That has now been done and starting today they will be shipping them as fast as they can to clear the back order list.
Non Sager branded machines will not ship until Thursday. -
This sounds like what I heard from Malibal when I contacted them today. They told me based on my order date of 1/28 that they expect to have orders out Friday or Monday (with all shipments starting Friday). Since they're not Sager branded, it matches up with what you've said.
