this thread here should help you out![]()
http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/564375-atmosks-nvidia-clevo-support-modded-infs.html
i myself am running the 270.28 drivers with the modded clevo inf, works without a glitch so far!
guys, im so extremely happy with my P150HM! thank god no freezes or other problems so far, really hope it stays that way![]()
-
Are the custom modded infs risky at all on a 64bit machine?
Also how big a benefit are the latest updates?
First nvidia card for me, and all previous ati cards were supported by drivers off the website =\ Also found out that steam was bugging up due to the thx trustudio pro for some reason, apparently steam crashes with some creativelab programs or something. -
ive used modded infs with 64bit windows on another machine before and i must say that i havent encountered any problems.
im not able to give u specific numbers as to the benefit of the 270.28 drivers compared to the stock 265.xx since i went with the newer ones right away
no problems so far with thx trustudio pro, but im not using steam -
No issues on mine, but I'm running with a 6970 and a standard HD (no SSD).
-
I really want to know how that 6970 performs, havent seen too much youtube videos...
-
According to my account, I placed the order on 3/6 (for the p150. There's a cancelled order for a p170 on there for 2/26 lol). Unfortunately I didnt stop changing my specs until 3/25 lol.. Luckily Myth said it should ship out this week
hope it gets here soon.. Had my second dream about it
(I feel like I shouldnt be admitting to these lol) this one was a lot. More pleasant then the first. Mostly opening boxes and playing games. The last dream was like disappointing. I had just the "laptop". I was more of a netbook that was different colors and ghetto-rigged together. I could see where stuff was like glued together lol.
Aaaanyways, can't wait for this thing! -
I've had no issues with it so far. But I haven't been playing new games.
From a subjective standpoint, Stalker: Call of Pripyat could be run maxed out with 4X AA, although I did get some stuttering around the fire anomalies, so I scaled it back to High settings (from Extreme - or whatever the max is). Fraps was giving me around 40 FPS on High - around 30 on Extreme. It still looks very nice.
And not surprisingly it runs WoW maxed out with no effort at all.
My only complaint is the card can get loud. I have seen at least one review talking about how the card can get hot, but I haven't noticed that myself yet. -
It would really awesome if someone can test the 6970 with crysis or metro!
-
It's been tested with Crysis, by a professional website.
Also, where did you order your P150HM, with 6970M? -
only place that sells p150's with 6970's is eurocom.. dun dun dunnnnnn!
-
yeah i have seen that one
It is really awesome how the 6970 even outperforms the 485m
But what i meant to ask is performance in Crysis 2, curious about that one ^^ By the way guys, do you think spending 88 dollars on the i7 2820qm is worth it? The benchmarks are really close between the 2720qm and the 2820qm..
-
I opted for the 2820QM,
Probably the only noticeable gain for me is self-satisfaction....
-
yup.. self-satisfaction and a bit higher benchmark scores
probably wont notice a difference in every day use.
-
This is the problem: I found out AFTER i ordered the laptop that I have right on the student 5% cashback. So for my order it means I can spend 87$ extra on the laptop (because I already paid...). It will be hard to get the cash back because I already paid (took 5 days, international wire transfer..). The 2820qm is an 175$ upgrade over the 2720qm so I only have to pay 88$.At the configuration page: http://web.eurocom.com/EC/ec_model_config1%281,219,0%29 I can't find something that is interesting for 87$... So thats why I am wondering if I should spend 88 dollars on the 2820qm!
-
in that case i could see why
you've already got everything else lookin good. make sure you post about the vertex 3's performance
-
That depends, is 88 dollars worth an increase of 1 fps in gaming?
-
not really, but it's probably a better investment then having them refund the money since i'm sure he'll lose money on that.
you have a blu-ray drive? see if they'll let you add one of those for $88 -
I wonder how did eurocom manage to get the 6970's before the other companies did so.
-
been discussed that they're using Engineering Samples..
although it seems that at least Fortnax (UN: Aikimox; canadian reseller) had some 6970's for sale. guess they're around, just not officially released -
other companies now have the cards too. they just don't put them in P150HM's
-
Eurocom did put the 6970s into the 8150s before Clevo had approved the configuration (I think - based on other posts in this area). But the machines and parts are covered under Eurocom's own warranty so if people want to roll the dice and buy they should be covered.
Eurocom isn't a Sager reseller like most of the other companies people are familiar with - they make their own Clevo machines like Sager does. It's better to think of them as a mini-Sager rather than a reseller. -
My order status changed 20 minutes ago.
I am now in Phase 4!!!
Oh baby I am excited.
Time to prepare everything~!
Hopefully I get it by Monday (Any earlier would be amazing, but I have a paper due monday so I will only be able to use it then)
It would be funny if UPS said it would ship on April 1 and then it never comes. I would tear them a new one for pranking me on April fools
-
Sweet, checked right after reading your post and mine hit phase 4 as well.....woohoooo!!!!
-
Congrats!
I think you should finish your paper before the stork delivers your baby
Oh, and I think I remember someone else had said Phase 4 is really SC2???
-
Mr_Mysterious Like...duuuuuude
That would be hispeed, lol.

Woah seems like I was way off on my shipdate.
Scheduled Delivery Updated To:
Wednesday, 03/30/2011, By End of Day according to UPS!
I don't believe it will take 1 day, that would be epic and terrible for my school work. I choose the $120ish dollar shipping method that avoided brokerage fees (I live in Canada!)
edit: I just checked again and it looks like they removed the part that said it was going to be delivered tomorrow. O well I will check again tomorrow =] -
Hey, anybody get a case for this laptop that fits it really nicely?...
I was looking for one of the neoprene type cases to slip it into and im coming up short looking for one with similar dimensions to the np8150.
Thanks for the help! -
wooha awesome! I am really in love with this game! You should have captured the epic wheel of death though
I think I might ask for a cashback, I dont really see the advantage over the i7 2720... I wished they had the 90% ntsc display, then I would have spent my money on that upgrade!
And yeah, I will post the results of that vertex 3
edit: look what I found: http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDQQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fweb.eurocom.com%2Fec%2Fec_GetBenchmarkB(2)&ei=7PSSTdDCO42UOsv1nI4B&usg=AFQjCNHEn-15E4HyS2iVbqB6PRstXb7R-Q pretty close in some scenerios!Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
if by "case" u mean a neoprene sleeve that fits snugly around the np8150 i could only recommend crumpler "the gumb bush" size L, the P150HM fits perfectly in there and the side pockets have ample space for the psu and cable!
-
Hey guys, a stupid question. If I were to upgrade my 8150, probably few years down the road. How do I do it? Would I have to get the parts myself and do it or the resellers offer refurbishment deals?
-
Hey guys. My package is in Canada! woooooot I think its coming today =]
Anyone have any tips ? Like things to first do when I receive/open it? -
Eh...well, you will first have to plug it in. Then, if you look to the left of the speaker, there is a "Power ON" button. You will need to press that. jk
- Check bios (not even sure if this part is needed. Tis a simple bios)
- Check that all drivers a loaded and up to date
- Check ports are working
- Check for dead pixels
You know the drill
-
I guess I should have waited then since I'm still looking at 2 weeks as mine went to Phase 2 a couple of days ago..
I know I have additional wait time because of the screen that is being installed. But I'd sure like to see mine here in 9 days. -

I can't speak for other resellers, but right now, we don't offer any sort of refurb deals. However, Sager laptops are very easy to upgrade. Usually it only takes a couple screws and a panel coming off to pull out the RAM or the hard drive. And you can usually pick up some deals from either your reseller or online retailers like newegg.
-
You could either purchase the parts from a reseller and do the upgrades yourself, or send in your laptop and have the reseller do the upgrade for you. If the notebook is still under warranty, most resellers don't charge labor on upgrades, so you only pay for the parts.
-
I got a Hardbody Pro laptop case by Slappa. There is a review on YouTube where somebody lights the case on fire with a laptop in it. The laptop comes out unscathed. It's waterproof too. It is the highest quality case I've ever seen/owned. You can sometimes find them on ebay (as I did) for under $100. The power brick compartment is actually too small to fit the 8150's power brick, but it fits in the documents folder portion just fine. Make sure you specify the 15.4" model, as they make a 17" as well.

Does anyone here know if the NP8150 will recieve a 6970m upgrade? +500 for a step up to a 485m is unreasonable to me.
-
The P150HM will have the 6970M as an option, around May.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yes it will...in the very near future...hopefully before May...
-
Yeah but the stuff I most probably would like to upgrade is the gpu. I checked and newegg doesnt seem to have any for laptops. As for mxm-cards (I dont remember its name), it seems abit shady plus Im not from the US and Im not comfortable with sending my laptop away you know.
-
u talking about mxm-upgrade.com? theyre actually situated in belgium and have been around for almost a decade now, so i doubt theres anything shady going down there
plus, u dont really need to send in ur laptop, u can just order the upgrade gpu (for instance, they have the 6970m in stock now) and install it yourself. but then theres no telling if the heatsink will fit!
cheers,
jaybee83 -
Are there any other options? Like other shops?
-
well, theres always ebay
i myself got a 9600m gt from there and installed it into my asus c90s (built my own heatsink out of copper plates
those were the goold ol days!)
where are u situated, anyway? there are definitely shops around, if u keep looking hard enough. i remember stumbling upon one in singapore and the uk. also heard rumors about a norwegian reseller offering mxm cards... -
Well, Im studying in Russia but live in Malaysia. I've been searching in vain and here in Moscow, I cant seem to find any high end stuff. Shops are stocked with laptops with i5 configs as the most expensive models. Without SB. Wonder where do all the russian hackers get their gear lol.
-
oh bummer! cant help u there@russia. but malaysia shouldnt be that big a deal with singapore just around the corner! theres definitely shops there
either that or just ask ur russian mafia connections if they could help you out
-
Yeah hmm. Thanks man. Can you recall the name of the shops? Its something worth remembering.
I wish I had those connections lol
-
This is one, they're a Clevo Barebones reseller:
R&J Technology, Clevo Barebone Notebook kits, Laptop and desktop system builder -
Oh thanks man! awesome
-
Ive got a request for someone that already has their P150HM, can you find a name brand computer that compares to this one in terms to the rubberized finish. A computer that would be at a local best buy or Microcenter.'
Thanks
