That's strange. I you tried one drive at a time?

going to this evening, just got it yesterday and didn't have a whole lot of time to tinker.
-
It would be strange not to support the drives. Contact the company and make sure you have the latest bios

I added 2 (well 3) drives to mine, same bios, same drivers.
It wasn't easy, but it was doable.
Bios did not recognize them until windows initiated them.
You'll find everything you need in disc management....you do not have to format the drives.
There is something in there you are missing but dammed if I recall the exact steps.
Remember that the drives have had a drive letter from the old computer and that it may be conflicting with the new computers drive letter layout.
Yes the drive letter sticks with the drive and yes you can change it. -
Also check the drives and make sure they have the latest firmware

I appreciate, I will be banging my head against this tonight.
The drives worked before I removed them from the laptop they were in. Previous latpop was a powerspec 1710, I left the C drive nvme in that laptop. The HDD and additional ssd I added is what I moved to the 1530 -
Hey Lzealot do you mind running the shadow of the tomb raider benchmark test? I'd be interested in your fps.
1080p dx12 highest graphic slider
I was getting similar benchmarks as you first week but now week later I haven't changed anything and everything is all down
Cinebench from 4.3k to 3.7k timespy overall 9.5k to 9k. my gpu score has really tanked. It was around 9.3k graphics for time spy now I'm only getting 8.7k avg
I had an Alienware with a 2070super also getting 9.4k GPU score in timespy. This sager been stuck at 8.6-8.7k for nearly a week. Test everydayLast edited: Sep 25, 2020 -
Or anyone else who's still around and posted other benchs. I'd be interested in your game fps like shadow of the tomb raider

Any update to Nvidia drivers or even moving to windows 10 2004 has caused lots of performance issues. Grab the April 15th Nvidia driver and see if that give u back your performance. Also any services running in the background will affect your benchmark scores. If you can wait a few days for the bench I'll run it for u. As u can see I'm neck deep on the desktop. Upgrading to a 10 core 10850ka thanks to the laptop running rings around my old one

I had those numbers before though with newest drivers
Nothings changed in a a week other than performance. But interestingly it's not really showing up on TRS benchmarks -
Try booting with minimal background processes and see if it helps.

Did not want the desktop to feel bad?
-
Haha it's been a few years since I updated. I made the mistake of going 1440p and the cpu was struggling a bit. Using the new laptop ruined me lol.

Thank you everyone for your input. The Powerspec 1530 does indeed take 3 hard drives.
Here's the key for anyone that comes across this issue in the future:
Move the default nvme drive over to the slot nearest to the 2.5" bay
The now open m.2 slot will take a regular m.2 drive
The 2.5" bay has padding that makes a regular 2.5" spindle drive not get a good connection. When I switched to a regular 2.5" ssd, the connection was better and showed up in bios right away.
bios will show sata slot 0 and 1 as being used. (slot 0 is the 2.5" bay)
all 3 drives now showing and ready to go.
also took the opportunity to apply thermal grizzly kryonaut, highly recommend it. -
Awesome. Glad it worked out!

For me 1440p high refresh rate it still a sweet spot. -
So is MSI scanner and Nvidia new geforce scanner not working with this laptop?
Msi says error code 22h and Nvidia tool says gpu does not support performance tuning..
WTF -
Pulled a 9606 Timespy score. Guess I don't need msi scanner to work oh well.
Also using stock sager I don't have the extra free fancy stuff gentech pc does -
No crashes and it's running sweet then your in good shape. My buddy ordered one of these too, but the first one had to be sent back.

I was getting a lot of odd and weird crashes two days ago but could've been an aggressive undervolt.
Page fault in nonpaged area crash. Weird boot loops. NVdisplay.Container.exe crash A LOT. Random freeze I had to hold power button. No windows report on freeze. Also happened like 3, 4 times. Hardware error live kernel event.
What's weird is the UV seemed fine first few days
But it's been nearly 2 days and not one crash after I lowered the cache more. I thought my ram or something was bugged. I have all newest drivers and updates -

Undervolts can throw out anything.

How loud are the fans compared to other laptops... for example I own a Max 17 and on beast mode I believe fans get to around 52-56 decibels.
Also is the keyboard press short or long distance travel? -
Hey guys, I am using PB70DF2. The option to turn off hyperthreading is not shown in BIOS.
Is there any other way to turn off hyperthreading? I'm using Windows 10. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If it's not in the BIOS probably not, you could check with your reseller on the option.
-
I just picked up the PowerSpec 1530 from Microcenter and noticed that it only comes with a 230W instead of 280W that other manufactures like MSI include in their RTX2070 Max P versions.
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Interesting, they are the size they can request customisations, they could cut back on TDPs.
-
It's actually the same PSU as Clevo/Sager. I checked and they all have 230W while MSI GE 66 has 280W PSU for the rtx2070S maxP.
-
Don't worry most I've pulled is around 225w.. Alienware uses 240w. Also only ever pulled right under 230w with it.
That extra is probably for I9s and 2080s not max 1 -

@Meaker@Sager
Do you have 2070 Super vbios in excess of 115W? Or do you have any plans to make it? I would like to ask you for vBios in excess of 115W please. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'm not a vbios modder and safer don't go for that. Plus I'd not push the VRMs that far.
-
The laptop will be throttling fast and hard if (with no other drastic modification) you exceed the maximum wattage the cooling solution was designed for. Typically you see good performance and manageable thermals if you undervolt the laptop graphics card and cap the frequency with a designated required voltage (MSi Aferburner). Using this method you shouldn't see the card's maximum wattage used beyond the occasional spike or a well designed benchmark. The card stays very cooler and you're able to tune to the highest possible frequency on the LOWEST voltage making the stock vbios limits more than adequate. That has been my experience with the PB71EF-G at least.
-
Did the high pitch whistle noise ever go away for any of you?
It's driving me crazy honestly. I'm just praying dust build up fixes the issue.
Also considering finding a replacement bottom panel to see if I can modify it or something but I'm not sure that's where the problem lies. Having trouble even finding somewhere that sells spare parts for the PB71DF2-G. -
Can a person named Prema do me a favor? I know he is called the master of Bios.
-
I've got a PB50DF2, so my device is slightly different, but practically all of the annoying fan whine that I noticed disappeared when I lifted the back of the device.
I'm definitely brain-storming a classier spacer than the bottle-caps I'm using now...
-
Glad that works for you! Unfortunately no such luck here. Using a laptop stand most of the time which does at least help temps.

They (he and a partner shop) looked into doing one non-P desktop series and it did not cope with the extra power draw. These are tailored to their stock power targets. -
@Meaker@Sager
When I change the "Active Processor Core" value in Bios, the device manager in Windows 10 generates an error code for wifi and bluetooth modules.
So, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules cannot be used. On the other hand, returning the Active Processor Core value back to "All" solves the problem.
I can't understand why the disabling of the core affects the wifi and bluetooth module.
could you please advise on this issue? I contacted Microsoft for this, but the Microsoft support team tells me to contact the manufacturer for this.Last edited: Oct 28, 2020 -

Depends on the bios coding, I'm guessing it's unlocked somehow or is that standard? Have you asked your reseller for the latest file?
dmanti likes this. -
Yes. This is an unlocked bios. Someone working at the Win-Raid forum unlocked the latest bios.

Could be a firmware bug never fixed then.
-
Do you have any plans to fix this bug in the future?
-
Hi Everyone,
Just got this laptop and have read this forum from page 1-55. I don't plan to OC this laptop but just want to maximize the functions. I am having an issue with fingerprint reader. I can register easily in Windows 10 Hello for sign in. Yet every time I sign in it won't read it correctly. I have added and removed finger registering many many times to no avail. I have asked Sager support for the newest driver and no response therefore I may already have the newest driver. Anyone can shed some light on this? Thanx! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
We would not fix a bug for a user modified piece of firmware. -
@Meaker@Sager
I discovered one thing while using my laptop.
When the power consumption of PB70DF2 approaches 230W, the CPU enters Power Limit Throttling.
Since the capacity of the adapter provided with the PB70DF2 is 230W, I expect this is intended by the manufacturer.
If so, will the CPU's Power Limit Throttling be eliminated if I use a 330W adapter? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Usually that's done at a board rather than power adapter level.
-
Most I can get is around 225w max. WTF are you doing to push it past that?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
He said near 230w so sounds about the same. Exact readings are going to vary meter to meter and system to system.
-
YES. I've already found a way to get rid of power limit throttling.
-
@Meaker@Sager
The motherboard of this model does not appear to be equipped with a VRM sensor. Is this true?
and what is the safe temperature of the VRM?
