990x and 3960x have same max TDP, 130w.
580M TDP, 100W....
SO, SLI 580M + 3960X = 100w+100w+130w (a 330w-350w PSU should be better)
-
While TDP is labeled in watts, it is not a measurement of power consumption, but rather a measurement of heat dissipation.
Since the chassis is related to the x7200, my guess is the cooling system will be adequate. But that doesn't really tell the story on how much power is drawn from the PSU (power adapter). -
What about the upcoming GTX680M's? I assume they will NOT be rdy when the 9270 begins preorders in the next few days. So when they DO arrive...will they fit into the 9270 with nothing more than a BIOS update?
-
Most likely, yes.
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yes that is correct. Just a biOS update. By this summer we should have it.

Cool...thx for the quick reply guys.
One more question though...is Sager going to introduce any new models that will have the 3920XM cpu (or other Next-gen mobile CPU) and 680M's in SLI? -
Yes, in a couple of months
-
Wow nice ventilation on the back. Expect nothing less from clevo's beefy laptop. On other note, why do you think this model release this month rather than to wait for the new gpu in 2 months or so? Wouldnt buyers prefer to wait for the new gpu?
-
Timing is a tricky thing. If Clevo releases all his beasts together with other vendors like Dell/AW, the flagship won't get the "special attention" from buyers as there will be quite a few new toys around, with lots of different features. So, it's best for Clevo to hurry up and refresh it before the the big Ivy + Kepler storm, hehe.

^^^^ What Aikimox said and...
This is really a Sandy Bridge E release and there is no other laptop maker in the world that is putting one out...since it is a desktop type.
- -
are there any new 15 inches coming anytime soon?
-
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Not with this type of chipset and CPU. This being a desktop based unit.
In April we are hoping to see at least a few NEW 15" models that will have the NEW Intel Mobile Technology.
- -
Is the 3D panel used still the LGD02C5 or one of the new Lightboost models?
If so what is their Hardware ID? THX -
I need a new computer, and I want to wait for this, but how long will it be before it is available from XoticPC would you all think?
Thanks -

I think I heard someone say that 7 Feb was the day!!! with deliveries end of Feb.
Anyway til then rest assured that the price in comparison to X-7200 will be extremely similar in terms of barebone cost. In other words the price premium associated with new technology is very small for this release. I would guess that the final price (of course varying between resellers and spec) will differ some 80-150 USD. Keep in mind that this calculation does not include rebates and other promotional offers.
As for us, that's Sweden, we have not yet decided our final price even though it is all ready. We will probably be somewhere in the 100+ USD range and with deliveries end of Feb.
It is near now so keep it together! -

^^^^ It has been stated that the time for the Pre-Order to start is Monday, February the 6th.
The time for this is 8:00AM PACIFIC time zone...

There you have it people
Btw, I noticed you and Akimox no longer have the reseller status how come? -

-
I'm joining a different company
Does this mean you got one already?
-
Excellent news.
What the chance for a barebones model...?
I have needs that aren't vital to gamers and Rendering folks.
Quad RAM, portability, no cares for battery life, certain SSD's and OS+ Apps drive.'Small things like that.....
If not ADK Pro is a month behind you guys...

More pics to show the quality of this NEW BEAST!

Looks like the HS's are not entirely from copper which means the system will be lighter! On the other hand, I wonder how it affects the temps... Stop making me drool!!!
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
But it also looks like they added copper to the bottom cover I guess to help with heat dissipation? lol
-
Yeah, you are right. Missed that part.
On the other hand if the new GPU HS's will prove less robust, I already got the old ones ready, just in case

one question... will I be able to install windows XP on 9270, and find compatible drivers for 6990/580? intend to install win7 as primary system and xp as secondary system for some old games, emulation software...etc....
-
Install W7/8 and use the XP mode instead. Otherwise, it's gonna be painful
-
just see eurocom named panther 4.0, no xeon on configuration......have to wait till 3/8
nor gtx600m......have to wait till 4/6 -
All you need is the mobo + CPU, right?
-
barebone & some parts............pkhetan!!!!!!!!
= =凸those snitches
btw i just repaste and figure out i was wrong, x7200's cpu hs is better than p270's

He can no longer help us
What makes you think so? -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
One note to add... the 17.3 120Hz 3D-Ready Full HD Display will not be ready on this model until the 2Q sometime. Sorry.

Thanks for the information!
Is it clear yet if the P270WM is available with / without illuminated keyboard (and that it's -$100 without)? -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
The Illuminated Full size isolated keyboard with Numeric Pad , W/A/S/D Gaming key, is Standard on the Sager NP9270.
No extra charge.

Quick question: With the included minimum case, how wide is the 9270? I really need a portable workstation with a desktop processor but I travel a lot on my motorcycles and my side cases are 17.2" wide.
Also, does the 9270 have an option to swap a drive internally? I have a 512GB SSD with Virtual Box that I currently swap between 3 computers.
Best Regards,

The latest specs we have show...
16.5 (w) x 11.3 (d) x 2.2~2.4 (h) 12.13 lbs with Battery Pack.
This model has 3 hard drive slots. One under the battery, then next to the battery there is a compartment that has slots for 2 hard drives stacked.
For example you can quickly remove the battery and access that HD slot easily.

Thanks for the quick answers! Couple follow up:
1) The standard case doesn't add more than .5" does it? It has been a while since I have had a Sager and I always remember the included cases being just a little more protective than a paper bag
!
2) How much can the 3930K processor be overclocked, if any? The main reason I want this notebook is my current Thinkpad W520 with a 2920XM processor is a little on the slow side when I am performing a large compile / link.
Best Regards,
Shane -
Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Yes the standard case that comes in the box is pretty thin as to protection. It may only add .5, however I am not sure.
I certainly recommend for one to get a case with more protection and padding if one is taking it around and such.
It remains to be seen regarding how much overclocking of the CPU is possible in this model.
By this time next month, several hopefully on the forum will post some results.

There are still some friends who still remembered me
You know DGDXGDG, Clevo just DELETED me. Sager Company have the moral obligation to help anyone who need any information that I were supposed to be able to offer, since they were the one asked Clevo to delete me.......
Sometimes, I wished I really kept my mouth shut, if not for the economical lost that I went under, it's for the information source that members lost, or even for the really nice price members were getting their video cards for; Come on Sager, at least provide these cards for the price that members used to get them for from me, without making a huge benifit margin as a monopolizing company !! -
Yes Brother Tux! We really miss you here. It's unbelievable that such a big company like Sager would feel so insecure about one person's activity.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
That would be because they are not really a big company.....you know EVGA is only 36 employees, and look at the recognition that they have!
-
I didn't mean the number of employees but rather their business activity. They shouldn't get threatened in this case, unless some of their resellers complained about it
-
It was more of personal issue/ revenge thingy that Xotics Justin had with our friend pkhetan...you can still read it up here in their conversations...what a shame. :'(
-
Even at stock, the Core i7 3930K will absolutely destroy the Core i7 2920XM because it has 6 cores / 12 threads, whereas the 2920XM has only 4 cores / 8 threads. Compiling can be a highly thread-hungry process, so you will see huge gains in compilation speed.
-
Shane,
FWIW, my x7200 (see sig for specs) compiles extremely large sources in about 1/4 of the time it takes our older build machine (10s of minutes rather than a hour or so). I cannot see the p270WM being any worse. -
In my opinion, the Intel X79 platform was designed for users who require extremely high CPU throughput more than graphics horsepower. Anyone who is considering the P270WM for coding/compiling, rendering, video/audio production, etc. has chosen wisely to consider this machine.
The only downside is its sheer weight and short battery life--the P270WM excels in everything else. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
It also lends itself well to graphics with gratuitous pcie bandwidth. Bonus :-D
-
Looks like I wasn't here when that happened. Do you have the link by any chance? *popcorns* -
I really don't like to bring it up again, but since I already get PMs about it and the truth should not be forgotten:
Xotic wanted to get rid of old stock gpu heatsinks and when pkhetan told us that the proper heatsink version for that gpu (which BTW also is the same model listed on the official Clevo spare parts price list) Justin from Xotic complained about him. Clevo then even intercepted a shipment with the proper heatsink that was on the way to pkhetan and changed the heatsink to the same old model that Xotic tried to get rid of in the hope that he would look like the one who is not telling us the truth and covering up their real reason (getting rid of old stock).
Pkhetan was kicked out of Clevo as a parts-reseller and also lost his service center access.
So basically Clevo decided to go with the bigger money flow (Sager) instead of the truth (pkhetan).
What a wonderful world we live in.

Further discussion should be taken here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/mar...t-clevo-dealer-spare-parts-3.html#post7891905
If at least Xotic would show some balls now and admit that things go crazy sometimes and get phketan his reseller status back. -
sigh......the truth depends on money
btw still no p270wm's gpu heatsink pic? if there are more or bigger heat pipe on top of gpu core the load temp should be cooler
