    Hello all,

I just picked up the 13.3 inch series 5 ultrabook and I do like it thus far, however I am a little concerned with it's LCD panel. The first issue is that at full brightness, the top 2cm of the screen is not quite as bright as the rest of the screen. It seems like an uneven backlight issue, but at least it's consistent across the top (not just one corner).

The second issue, which is a much smaller one, is that the LCD panel appears to be misaligned with the screen bezel. What I mean is, if I look at the left side of the screen, the black space between the pixel edges and the actual bezel is bigger than the space on the right side of the screen. Similarly, the top has a bigger space than the bottom.

Can anyone with a series 5 tell me if these two things are normal? If they are then I'll keep the machine because I really do love it.

    Thank you.

I don't have the first issue you mention, but I do have the ~3px gap on the top and left. I've learned to live with it though.

Thank you for the reply. I can certainly live with the pixel gaps for sure. Are you saying that your screen is uniformly bright edge to edge when viewing an all-white background with brightness set to max?

I have something similar on my 15.6" series 7. On the left and right sides, on a white background, I can see a very slight dimming on the edges, but it's consistent the entire way up and down. It personally doesn't bother me. I'm usually picky, so maybe that's why I noticed it.

Here's my right edge. Again, can't really even see it when looking at it straight on.
