I noticed HP is offering HP ENVY 15-3200 for around $1100 with pretty much comparable specs as the NP700Z5C.

Sizewise the HP is a bit bulkier, but has better(?) Radiance display, and is a bit (200g) heavier. Any other notable differences?
How would you go about recommending one or the other? I am currently a user of a 6-year old Samsung X60.

I will say this that Envy's keyboard might be easier for coding only because they have a dedicated column for home buttons, end, larger left & right direction buttons. These are the ones I use frequently, so if I was you, it would be worth it. If you are not coding, please ignore.

    Samsung is lighter/Slimmer/Better build Quality
Samsung has long battery life 7+ hrs (Envy has 3-4hrs max)
Samsung comes with Matte screen, you can use it anywhere even in direct sunlight (though at 15" viewing angles & colors are not great)
Samsung comes with dedicated numberpad (Envy 15 doesn't have)
I used Samsung keyboard & I personally prefer Samsung keyboard over Envy (missing keystrokes)

Envy has better screen with 1080P (Glossy)
Envy has Better sound than Samsung 15" (not 17", 17" has a lot better sound)
    Envy has better vents system
Envy got slightly better GPU I believe, but switching is creating issues. Samsung uses Nvidia 640M & Nvidia has much better switching.

    Hope this will help
