17 inch Laptop

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me if or when the following laptop:

is available in the UK. I think they are effectively the same type/spec of laptop but I see the first one listed above comes with win 7 professional which is preferable over lower versions on os.

Can anyone tell me what the memory can be increased to and, if it is possible to change the hard disk for a higher performing device?

I've been scouring the web for a couple of weeks looking for this machine and contacted Samsung directly and have nothing. It's not available now, but I have found it is now listed under the support section of the Samsung UK website

You will see that this was published on the 14th of June and we are still awaiting its release.

If we compare that to the 15" model, I believe that was published midway through May and became available towards the middle/ end of June.

On that basis I would guesstimate it launching anytime over the next 3 weeks.

Thats all I've got to go on!

 

It was showing up on Misco but has now been changed to 'discontinued'... I think they may have jumped the gun... I think it confirms that a NP700Z7C-S01UK will be coming to the UK soon though

Have considered importing but wouldn't have correct keyboard layout and any issues e.g. stuck pixels may not be easy to resolve.

 

There exactly my thoughts too. I have posted a question on the Q&A section for the NP700Z7C-S01UK on samsungs website and I hope a Samsung rep will shed some light on this. If I get anynews I'll post it here.

Past performance suggests that some of the etailers will have posted the details before the Samsung UK website gets updated. Keep watching. Alternatively, consider importing one from elsewhere in Europe, such as from here (but you won't get a UK keyboard).

Looking at the European website I see that the Laptop is quite configurable. Will that be the case in the UK do you think?

All those configuration options are extras that be provided by the etailer. There is only one configuration from Samsung. The most expensive is swapping the HDD for an SSD, which you can do yourself for less cost. It remains to be seen what configuration (particularly CPU / GPU/ HDD or SSD) Samsung UK decide to order from the factory.
