See this thread about updating the BIOS. Samsung's SW Update software can also do the BIOS Update but there's an increased risk of hitting problems using that method compared with using the stand-alone BIOS Update program.

John, your help is much appreciated.
I was thinking that following regular Windows and Samsung's SW Update package would be sufficient.
Will have to learn more about this Bios update, then.

    Best,

Occasionally the BIOS updates carried out within SW Update have gone wrong and resulted in a bricked computer whereas the reports of catastrophes caused by the stand-alone updater are far fewer.

In your case I suggest you make sure that the BIOS updating is carried out before you leave HK so that, in the unlikely event of bricking, you can get the computer replaced. It is also preferable to get the BIOS updated before the Windows 10 installation.

Unlike in the States, I don't think that it will be covered in HK if the updates I installed bricked the machine. But will try to do it there as you suggested.

Thanks a lot once again, John.

I've owned most big brands of laptop, HP, ASUS, Toshiba, Lenovo and Dell and I have to say that the Samsung ATIV laptop I just bought is by far the best looking and best designed one of all. Very impressive. Expensive but worth it IMHO. I hope they'll continue to make them.

Totally agree. From my experience with many generations of Vaio's top of the line laptops, Samsung's top of the line laptop outperformed Vaio on both the look and the performance.

Hope the market is sizeable enough for Samsung so that they will continue with the line.

It's surprising that it's not readily available in HK. I called many HK partnershops to check the availability to find out that it must be ordered as the shops don't really have them ready for sale. Even the flagship store got only one unit, which had already been reserved. So I will need to call to order one few days before my departure so that the store can try to find one for me.

If you mean the short SD to micro-SDadapter then search the internet for " Micro SD Card Adapter TF Memory to Short SD Adapter For MacBook Pro Air".

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was looking, without luck, for the original that fits the curve of the Ativ, as shown in the video.

It's possible that there was once a Samsung-sepcific version of the Nifty minidrive but sales volumes didn't justify keeping it in production. Or maybe there was a Chinese equivalent for a fraction of the price. With SSDs being much more affordable than a couple of years ago those people wanting more storage (and better performance particularly if upgrading from a 128GB SSD) tend to do an SSD replacement.

I totally agree. My reason to find this solution is to give new life to the micro sd card that samsung phones no more use. will see what happens. Thanks again

The micro sd adaptor specific to series 9 , only comes as an accessory with the newer ab9plusK/9003k models, and fits snug, and hence can be permanently left in the slot, and is very usefull for adding some extra memory.
I have tried searching but is not available anywhere as a spare buy, any body any luck?

Hi, I know this is an old topic but I will start to use my Ativ Book plus 9 NP940X3K--K02US which I got 1 year ago and need some information. I already got the information from here (thanks a lot) that I can upgrade my M.2 SSD. I am little confused about the speed. Is the samsung EVO 850 (I plan to replace the installed with 1TB EVO 850) faster than the installed one? Are they both SSD using the SATA3 protocol? I dont want to loose the speed while increasing the capacity with EVO 850. On top of this can I use the '' Samsung 950 PRO Series - 512GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V5P512BW)'' with my ultrabook? Does anyone know if NP940X3K--K02US will support the PRO 950 ? According to samsung it does not. According to them max capacity is also 256GB :))
Please let me know... Thanks in advance.

I'm 99.9% sure that the M.2 socket on this notebook only supports SATA SSDs and not PCIe. However, I am also 99.9% certain that there will be no problem with a 1TB EVO 850. The only detail to check is that both the existing and proposed replacement SSDs are the same physical (probably 2280).

You may find that the 1TB SSD has better write performance than your existing SSD although the read performance may be similar. Compare the specifications to find out.

Great! I am really comfortable and excited now to install my 850. The original speed was already a fantastic experience and now having 1tb!
Also thanks to replying on a this old topic. I am sure I will have other questions once I start to using it more daily.
    Thanks
