I have two great Core i7 laptops and I did a few 3d benchmarks between them and was real surprised by the results.
Samsung RC512: Core i7-2630QM (2.0-2.9ghz), 8gb ram, GT525 (1gb)
Sony VPCF1390X: Core i7-840QM (1.83-3.2ghz), 8gb ram, GT425 (1gb)
I ran multiple tests with 3DMark Vantage 11 and took the best one.
Test | Samsung | Sony
Overall | 3410 | 3735
Graphics | 2726 | 3047
CPU | 13785 | 11586
Jane Nash | 7 | 8
New Calico | 8 | 9
AI Test | 1889 | 1630
Physics | 18 | 14
Now you can see where the Sandy Bridge 2630QM CPU stomped the older Sony 840QM, as expected. What surprised me is that the GT425 beat out the GT525 in all of the GPU tests.
On both machines I used the latest NVidia drivers and on the Samsung I did make sure that Optimus had switched over to the NVidia GPU.
Any ideas?

Speed of graphics RAM? Maximum actual GPU speed? Throttling due to temperature? HWiNFO32 may reveal these data.

What about GPU-Z?
Also, you may need to make sure that the system is actively using the Nvidia GPU.

3D Benchmark: GT525 vs GT425, 425 is better?
