    Hello,
    I have a new Samsung NP530UC,
connected my Iphone 4S to the USB 3.0 port,
and manually copying the files on the iphone (basically, photos and videos) of about 15GB.

the process takes over one hour - is that normal, or is something wrong with my laptop??

i thought it should be flying with USB 3.0 and an i3 intel processor...

    Two thoughts:

    (i) Is the hardware in a smartphone fast enough to saturate a USB 2.0 connection, never mind USB 3.0?

(ii) By default the connection policy for the phone as removable storage is likely to have been "Quick removal" which means that each file is sent in turn after confirmation that the previous one has been written. This can massively slow down the transfer rates, particularly for small files.

Your results are in a similar performance range to those here.
