    Hello there!

    I recently bough a Samsung series 3 laptop (NP370R5E) with Windows 8 (64 bits). The computer has two graphic cards: a Intel HD Graphics 4000 and a AMD Radeon HD 8750m. Both cards are shown in Device Manager, however, in (for example) HWinfo it only shows my Intel card. And in Catalyst Control Center, I am not able to "Configure Switchable Graphics" (nothing happens when I click on it. It is kinda annoying if games etc. run with the Intel card instead of the AMD, seeing as the latter is better. My Device Manager tells me the drivers are updated on both cards, but I can't find the AMD 8750m drivers anywhere (if this is the reason why Catalyst Control center is not letting me configure).

    So, my questions are:
    1. What might be the reason why Catalyst Control Center won't let me configure switchable graphics?
    2. If drivers might cause the problem, is there anywhere I can find the updated AMD driver (can't seem to find it on amd.com)
    3. Is there any other program that can show me which graphics card is used when gaming? (I've tried GPU-Z, but it wouldn't open for some reason)

    Thanks in advance, Kroq.

    I was on the Samsung website and tried to install the driver, but it was only for Windows 7. If you have a direct link I would appreciate it! :)

    Download the newest driver from here, select the second, unpack it, but don't run the installation. Go to the device manager, select your videocard, right click, update driver software, click to browse my computer for driver software, locate your driver folder and inside select the following folders and file; Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF. This will install the latest videocard driver. Catalyst Center do not need for anything. Now run a 3DMark11 and tell me your score.

    Hello!

    I have the exact same model as OP and I too encountered the same error.

    @Atom Ant: I downloaded the new driver, extracted it but instead of having W76A_INF I have W86A_INF. Is it OK to download new driver from this folder?

    Thank you in advance.

    Yes, that is perfectly the same, they've just changed the file name since what I have used last time.

    Thank you for your fast reply.

    I tried your method but unfortunately the Device Manager says I already have the best driver installed for my device. I'm really on my wits end as I don't know what to do. Do you have any more advice for me? Would completely installing the Catalyst driver work, maybe? I mean through .exe file, not through Device Manager?

    EDIT: I don't know if it means anything but after starting and running my high graphics game I launched GPU-Z and it only shows Intel integrated card. Does it mean that the game runs with Intel and not with ATI?

    I can only tell, if I can see your 3DMark11 score. And if 3DMark can use your Radeon, than probably the games as well.
    It is ok when Gpu-z or hwinfo cannot see the 2nd graphics, the Radeon have to be avtive only during gaming.
    Otherwise you can still try the regular driver (exe) installation way, but as I heard Samsung disabled this option. Anyway first just run a 3Dmark!

    Thank you for answering!

    Here are my 3DMark scores:

    * 3DMark Score 20805
    * 3DMarks Graphics Score 25151
    * Physics Score 12965
    * Graphics Test 1109.6 FPS
    * Graphics Test 2109.1 FPS
    * Physics Test 41.2 FPS

    These scores seem to be for AMD Radeon HD 8750M GPU although in the details page it is said that "Graphics driver is not approved." The explanation: This message is displayed if your benchmark result was obtained using a set of graphics card drivers that are not (yet) approved by Futuremark.

    So overall score 20805 with AMD Radeon HD 8750M(1x) and Intel Core i3-3110M. I hope this helps to solve my problem further.

    Also, thank you so much for looking into it. I appreciate it deeply!

    EDIT: The processor clock says 1,198MHz, but I have 2,4GHz processor. Is it OK that it shows that number in the benchmark?

    Update: OK, so, I tried to install Catalyst with the .exe and it finished correctly, no errors or something. But the truth is it didn't change anything. My problem stll exists - I can't configure switchable graphics. The CCC works, but as soon I click on "Configure Switchable Graphics Application" it closes to desktop. Actually I don't mind it. I just would like to be sure that when I'm gaming I'm using the right GPU.

    Previously I had HP G62 laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 with AMD Phenom II N830 / 2.1 GHz (Triple-Core) and my games played fluently. Now with Samsung my game's graphics ain't so good and the game actually lags. I mean I'm actually using a better processor and video card, right? So it would mean that I should be able to play it even better than it did with HP?

    Any advice would be appreciated. :)

    Could you tell me whether the "Driver Provider" of your Intel HD Graphics 4000 is AMD or not, as seen in Device Manager?

    I've read somewhere that the switchable graphics problem will be solved only if both the discrete and integrated graphics driver provider are the same.

    Boybandista, my integrated GPU is indeed manufactured by Intel Corporation. So, in my example I have different GPU's from different manufacturers.

    UPDATE: AMD released a new driver update for my Ultrabook and now my problem is solved. Yay! Big thanks to everybody who tried to help me!

    Hello, amgbenzin!

    I apologize that I haven't answered before but I haven't checked the forum since I got my problem resolved. Anyway, I'll try to do all my best to help you. As I have the Samsung laptop I also use a program called SW Update and I got a new driver from there. I would suggest you to look through your manufacturer's drivers for your PC/laptop and use a driver from there as these should be the ones that actually make switchable graphics work. Please let me know what laptop you are using to help you further.

    You guys, just install the most recent AMD Mobility driver from here, working perfectly for me.
