In a brief stroke of genius, i have managed to delete the recovery partition on my R700 before learning that i needed it to access the ~70gb of backed up data which i had stored with the samsung backup software. Would anyone know of a way of getting to the files stored inside without sending the laptop in to have it wiped to factory settings? I understand it's possible to make a recovery partition if you've made a backup DVD, but i haven't done that either, the backups are stored on an external hard drive in a user1.w01, user1.w02 etc. format.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm tempted to call it lost data at this point, especially since i've managed to take up 70gb of space in the course of saving 10gb.

Have you tried using any partition recovery programs?

I've not, but it's almost certainly lost to other data now. Might try it later anyway, i'll return with the results.
