I was really happy with my Samsung R580 (original model with i5 and blu-ray) until my computer is telling me there is an issue with my battery and I should replace it.

Has anyone else's battery died within 2-3 years? I'm wonder if Samsung just have crappy batteries in general or if I'm just unlucky.

I have a samsung q430 and same issue in only 1.5 years (of heavy use though).

Still, I'm very tempted to get the series 7

My sony, toshiba and lenovo batteries have died within two years. I think that's the norm. Some die completely while some may only hold a charge for like 15 - 30 mins

the new series 7 is set by default to only charge to 80%, which is supposed to increase the number of cycles

I would start with ebay. Look for "original" or "genuine" and search for the battery part number since the same battery is often used on several models.
