    Find and download the Samsung Update software and run it (on any computer) then find your computer. Here's a link to the older SW Update (which works fine) but a newer program may exist.

    Thanks - I'll give it a try. I've downloaded the latest one I could find and while my laptop isn't in the selection list. I'll download the files (3GB of drivers)

    Using the find model option I can see NP900X5N- K01US, NP900X5N-L01US and NP900X5N-X01US. Do you have something else?

    You are correct sir! I found that last night and forgot to report back. Turns out the issue is some other software I have loaded is making that fingerprint driver not work. I get it to work in safemode under device manager. I'll report back when I find out what. Thanks! I admit, I haven't really used this laptop yet but so far it seems great!

    I didn't figure out for sure service was causing the finger print reader as I turned off a lot and uninstalled a number of programs that were on the image I cloned it from. It could have been SonicWALL, some sound blaster or realtek program (again cloned from another computer), acronis... Point is if you find yourself with an angry finger print reader in device manager you probably have some software or service that is causing the issue. Great laptop!

    John - thanks for the help!

    Actually, the serial number used by Samsung update is stored in the registry and can be changed/set so that you don't have to choose the model each time. This also enables direct updating of drivers etc, not just downloading and saving them.

    Here are the entries:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Samsung\SWMCommon]
    "Eula"="Y"
    "FirstAgentExecDateTime"="2017-07-06T19:37:10"
    "SerialNumber"="0PJC91DJxxxxxxW"
