I recently replaced the motherboard in a np900x3 (9 series) with Win 7 installed. A month went buy to get all the parts from Samsung. New motherboard works great, charges, (new power jack harness) and shows 100% charged in Windows. Yet, when the power cord is unplugged while on, the unit shuts down, and will not power on with just the battery. It turns on every time with power cord plugged in.

Questions: If Windows is reporting the battery 100% charged, yet won't turn on the unit, is the battery just bad? Why is Windows reporting 100% charge?

    Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Which X3 version? There seems to have been a batch of bad batteries for the NP900X3B.

Go into the BIOS and find the battery calibration tool. Pull out the mains plug and run it. Then fully recharge the battery. Finally check the battery wear using HWiNFO or BatteryBar and let us know what is says.
