    Hi,

I have a Samsung Series 5 NP530U3B for more than two years, which was working superb so far.
Now the battery cannot be charged at all, even though Windows 7 is stating "Plugged in, charging".
I thought it could have been a faulty battery, but changing to a brand new one did not help (neither using another power supply).
I also reinstalled the whole windows 7, but no effect.

I am hoping somebody here could give some hints what else could be checked to pinpoint the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

    Run HWiNFO and:
    (i) look at the battery properties on the list of devices then
(ii) open the Sensors tab and see if it reports a battery charge rate.

Also check if the replacement battery (is it Samsung or another make?) can power the computer. It would normally have about 50% charge when manufactured and shipped.

    Thanks for the reply John,

However, I had already checked that with HWiNFO and the report seems fine.
The battery came with 85% charge and it does power the computer.
I ran a test and let the charge drop to 80% (running on battery), but the laptop is not recharging it =/

Would you know any test to check if it is hardware related, e.g. components that control the battery charging?

Thanks. So that excludes the battery itself as being the problem.

Therefore the suspicion has to fall on with the battery charging circuit. Unfortunately, I don't know any easy way to isolate the problem further. Samsungparts.com doesn't list any separate power board which suggests that the charging circuit is integrated into the main board and thus potentially very expensive to rectify if the board has to be changed.
