    Hi everybody,

my first post here, I'm in the market for a new laptop and the Q35 and Q45 look fairly attractive.

I'm a bit confused about the difference between Q35 vs. Q35 pro, though. At first glance it seems only the operating system XP Home vs. XP Professional.

But in some German review (the URL escapes me now) I read that for the Pro (or Bitasa) models better/more reliable components are selected.

Also the warranty is supposed to be upgradable with Pro models.

Can somebody here confirm this ?

And how does the Q45 come into the picture ?

The Q45 Aura T7100 Duke (NP-Q45A001) comes with Vista Home Premium. So I assume this is meant to be the consumer version and a Q45 Pro might appear at some stage?

Then again the price tag of about about EUR 1500 here in Germany makes it look fairly pro ;-)

Can anybody shed some light on this topic?

    Cheers, Ernie.

I have no reason to believe that Samsung would have different materials and build quality for different versions of the same model. It would make the whole production process much more difficult and push up the overall costs.

Some basic components may be different, such as a faster (and more expensive CPU).

There is a tendency for manufacturers in any industry to charge a premium for the top of the range product. Think of the automobile industry. There's the base version with a very attractive headline price but the version with the features you want has an extra cost which is out of proportion to the true cost of those features.

While you are thinking about these smaller Samsung models, you might want to take a glance at the Q70. The latest photos I have found make it look very attractive. Battery life will be less than the Q45 because of the bigger display.
