    Hi,

My new Q330 has a small problem with the plastic HD/Memory cover. It seems to buldge out from the cable going from the HD to the motherboard.

I did take it off for closer inspection and one of the clips looked broken, I called Samsung and eventually they agreed to send me a new part. Very disappointed as this was 2 days old when I noticed it!

Now, when the new cover arrives I still wonder will the cable cause it to bulge and worse, snap the little plastic clip - again?

Is this normal? Or what can I do to fix it?

    Thanks!

The only thing I can suggest is to pull out the hard drive completely, if it's in a bay/chassis remove the HDD from that, and pull out the cable some and take a good look at it and how it should sit in the unit comfortably. Make sure there is no debris or anything in the unit blocking it's path and try putting everything back together and reconnecting/re-seating the HDD into place. If that doesn't work, look where the hard drive is and see if there are any unnecessary 'sponges' or metals that might be making contact or pushing up/against the drive or the door/panel.

Normally a thin ribbon cable is used to connect the HDD to the motherboard. Is yours different?

Hi and thanks for your replies.

The HD cable is sort of covered in a black ribbon cover? It's nothing like a standard flat cable - although I have only seen desktop HD cables.

I am waiting for the new part to arrive to see if this has any effect. I think what I will try to do is push the cable down and then insert the cover. This hopefully will mean the cable won't cause the buldge. However, after I installed some RAM the buldge is much smaller! And that is due to the cable being pushed.

However, there still is quite a decent amount of flex there on the left side. Is this normal for this model?

I'll try to post some pictures when the new part arrives - should be Friday I hope.
