Just purchased a p610 with Blu-Ray and HDMI, got it working happily with my pioneer plasma screen. Although I have only tried normal DVDs on it so far, I noticed that they sounded a little better when played through VNC rather than the bundled PowerDVD package, then I noticed that PowerDVD states that it is 2Channel version, is there an upgrade needed as when I do get a few Blu-rays I would like to hear the full effect of the HD sound?

    Many thanks
    Ian.

That should have been VLC of course....anyways I raised a call with Cyberlink and they got back to me saying that the OEM version that comes with the laptop is limited to 2CH, and I should pay to upgrade to version 9 of PowerDVD, I don't think so.

Then I see Vista SP2 gets released last night, I think great, MS have probably sorted out the lack of support for Bluray media playback, but on reading throught the release documentation it doesn't appear so.

So for now stuck with 2CH audio for Bluray.
