like topic, I really need to know that before buying the laptop? I do not want optimus/switchable graphics to be enabled because I just want nvidia/AMD graphics to be on all the time.

Another thing that I don't understand is why you need to use all VGA all the time. The Optimus solution is pretty good, compare to AMD switchable. It allows laptop to has more longer battery hour. Also, unlike AMD, Optimus will work on every graphical application like games or 3D rendering applications. Fo r application that does not need the power of VGA, using VGA card is pretty useless. -
because I google optimus and people seems to have problems with it as well, one person modify the bios of a laptop to disable optimus and gets more than 30+ fps boost in games, and the laptop did said it is using Nvidia before, so basically Windows is lying about using Nvidia.
If its not possible, i will find one that doesn't have optimus or switchable, thanks anyways! -
. The Optimus is kind of additional software to the card. That why I said the OEM like Samsung could allow us to to use the dedicated card only. Most laptop OEMs consider about their laptop battery and how long you can use those. So that they will use any mean to prolong the battery. If you want to find a true gaming laptop, I suggest look for custom built laptop or Allienware. Those laptops can pack high-end graphic card and their systems do allow you to customize whatever you want. For the rest, you don't want to mess with BIOS in laptop because unlike desktop, which can have dual bios in case of the other fail, laptop does not has any ability to recover itself. Also, laptop BIOS has limited functionally, so that you cannot extend anything at all unless you modify and use a custom firmware. Nevertherless, you would damage your warranty on those as you try to force something that might not work and has not been test by OEMs, eventhough you some actually did that.

well, I want to buy the 15.6 inch chronos laptop, the main reason for that its light for its performance. Gaming laptop is too heavy for my taste because i do want to do my work with it.

Seriously, i am the only one who cares about buying a laptop and not able to use it to its potential?

Given to the last switchable graphic disaster and the potential problem of optimus, i rather have them disabled.

Can you disable optimus/switchable graphics in the new series 7 chronos/gamer laptop?
