I took my R60 plus apart to get rid of the dust and fluff inside which was causing overheating. Following reassembly the screen backlight doesn't seem to be working. There is just a very faint image. If I plug an external monitor it displays fine. When I disconnect and reconnect the cable going to the laptop's screen I can very briefly see the image on the screen.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could have done please? Lid close switch maybe?

It's a valid thought that the lid closure switch only shuts off the backlight and not the whole display. However, my first place for scrutiny would be the display cable connection onto the mainboard. If you are 100% sure that the cable is seated OK then I'm short of other suggestions.
