Well, the remote in X60 works as a simple keyboard with the cursor keys, volume, backspace, and play/next/previous. This means you could use it with WMP11, but I doubt you'll be able to do all the tasks you could with AVS![]()

Is you observation based on the slot size? I would be surprised if Samsung have taken a step backwards here. The 6-in-1 slot of my old X60 is only about 25mm wide. With the exception of CF, which is not included in the 6, Sony MS is one of the bigger media. SD/MMC and XD are quite small.

This page http://www.samsung.com/uk/business/b2b/products/notebooks/business_class/x60+.htm has "x60+" in its address and acknowledges the Core 2 Duo CPU.
Samsung's international download site now offers the X60PLUS, although everything there seems to be the same as for the X60.
Anyway, slow progress towards recognition that the C2D X60 is a slightly different model. Only 2 days until I get home and can make a detailed side-by-side comparison and produce a new review.

I can add that I have now got my hands on my own X60plus. I can confirm that the media slot does take SD cards (the label on the computer is a bit confusing as it states "memory stick") and I also have the Fujitsu 120GB HDD. I note the keyboard functions have been changed slightly compared with the previous X60.
I'm impressed by the display: Very sharp, and brighter than my old X60. However, my initial impression is that battery life may be less than before but maybe there needs to be some tweaking of the power management.
I'm currently working on my review.

I'm very pleased with my X60plus except for one thing: Power consumption is higher than the old X60 and I suspect the cause is the GPU. I see no trace of the ATI PowerPlay software. Does anyone else have this problem?
Now that I have got the display tweaked, it is fantastic.

PS: See my post at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1711141#post1711141 regarding the X1700 and the Catalyst software. -
Is it dead silent when using this famous "silent mode" setting?

No. The quiet mode setting raises the fan trigger temperature range so the computer gets a bit hotter, but the fan still comes on. However, in normal use the fan only runs at its lowest speed which is not very noisy. The current level of fan activity may be reduced once ATI gets PowerPlay working with the X1700 GPU.

For those who want the X60plus drivers, I have downloaded the Korean drivers for the NT-X60plus and found out that they hare actually multilanguage packages. In general, these drivers would also apply to the previous X60 models.
However, there is no trace of the ATI driver under the NT-X60plus downloads. I also checked Battery Manager V2.1.2.7 for the power management option shown on page 113 of the X60plus manual. It isn't there.
I hope someone in Samsung is working on the X1700 power management. I spent an hour on the phone to Samsung support last week regarding this. I also filed a ticket with ATI and got a very quick reply to contact Samsung.
