I'm thinking about buying this laptop for running Ableton live and Cubase. If you own the Samsung series 7 14 inch model: Could you please run the utility in the link and tell me if you see any spikes in the yellow and red?

    DPC Latency Checker

You don't need to install anything, it's a standalone exe-file. DPC latency determines how well the laptop is suitable to handle real-time audio.

Here's what DSP Checker on my chronos 15" model looks like when

    1) using battery, Wi-Fi, balanced performance setting

    2) using power-cord, no Wi-Fi, best performance setting

There's definetely some problem with the spike going red/yellow every once in while. Yet I haven't find out what might be causing it. Although I've been using audio programs like those with my external USB soundcard for a while without experiencing any problems, even using option 1.

Thank you! It seems acceptable when running it on "2) using power-cord, no Wi-Fi, best performance setting". Which buffer value did you run your external usb soundcard on?

Resplendence Software - LatencyMon: suitability checker for real-time audio and other tasks

If you want to know exactly the which driver or service causing the problem you could also try the latencymon program in the link. It similar to dpc-latency checker but it also report a list of the drivers responsible for the spikes.

Those results was made using soundcard on buffer size 256 Samples but I am not so sure if the buffer size effects to spikes in any way.

Now I also tried LatencyMon. Here's results:

It reports that the main problems would be with the drivers rspLL64.sys, iaStof.sys, ACPI.sys, dxgkrnl.sys, and USBPORT.sys for some reason. It would be nice to find out way to fix this but I'm not sure if there is anything to do.

My 700Z5A does the same, spikes into the high thousands and the offending drivers are similar.

What happens if you disable the Intel network card? We found an issue recently that the Lenovo Intel network driver was causing a nasty spike at regular 30 second intervals.

Anyone have any advice about using the s7 for music production. How have your experiences been.

It seems to have the right specs and portability but has latency been an issue for anyone?

One of the photos below is not viewable.

Can anyone who owns the s7 run the DPC Latency check with wifi turned off and post the results? Many thanks in advance..
