    Hello,

I have a brand new Samsung Ativ Book 5, the version with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and the matte, non-touch display. I love nearly everything about it, but the display has really been giving me grief.

Specifically, some graphics and fonts, offline and online, look grainy, blurry and/or distorted. Not all of them, but most, including any kind of wallpaper I put on the desktop (native resolution or higher resolution). Videos also look pretty horrible. Grainy, choppy and extremely dark. Every dark color looks black so it all sort of blends together into something impossible to watch.

I knew before buying the laptop that there were issues with the display such as poor contrast and color depth, but in my mind this shouldn't affect image clarity. It's even crossed my mind that it might be related to the matte screen, since I've never owned one before, but it still doesn't really add up. I've owned some pretty low-end laptops and I've never felt so uncomfortable with a display before.

I've already tried updating the driver, both with SW Update and directly from Intel. Also, the resolution is correct and color depth is 32 bit. Nothing has changed.

The big question is: does anyone else who owns this laptop have these kinds of issues? Is it a known "feature" or do I have a dud?

    Thanks!

    Alina
