Nobody know!, Did your laptop ask you for the key on the bottom of the laptop or give you 30days to register when you first booted into Vista, If you did not have to do either you had a pre-activated key!

What you are suggesting may be contrary to your user licence, so be careful.

I believe the key is pre-activated and I also suspect that it may be tied to Samsung hardware.

Yes there is no need to activate when it's installed from the supplied disc.

With the laptop you also get 2 disks, the software media (I assume thats the bloatware) and recovery media (just the OS).
If you boot from the recovery media then you get a clean install of Vista Home Premium SP1 and it... doesnt ask you for the product key?
    Seems odd...

EDIT: Mine did not ask for any key the first time it booted up.

Have you tried this program, If you ever want to do a total wipe, restore partition and everything, This program reads the pre-activated key and saves it, it can also restore it after you install your new OS, and then you will not have to register online!

None of that is necessary. Install from the recovery disk and you will have a clean install with no software or drivers and no need to activate anything.

The second disk is used to install software and drivers, you can choose to install only drivers, software or both.

The other software is on the driver disk and there is a menu so you can select what you install. One annoyance, IMO (it may have changed with the latest version) is that to get PowerDVD then you also get a full suite of Cyberlink software and then have to uninstall the parts you don't want.
