I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro on launch day yesterday and really want to install Bitlocker with auto-unlock, to give a level of security with minimal inconvenience. To get this working on my Windows Home Server (Proliant Microserver) I had to buy a separate TPM chip. Is it supported at all on the Chronos? The manual shows how to configure it in the BIOS but I think it implies it's optional. A premium-ish portable machine should have it these days surely?

Go to BIOS and if it is showed there, you have it. Alternatively, you can use the new Software Update to look for TPM driver for that model. Try to install that driver. If it fails, then you don't have it.

Looks like it doesn't have it then, the driver does come up for this model but the BIOS doesn't show it :(

Yup, some models like mine show the TPM driver, but I don't even have that option or I have never heard about it back when I used Windows 7. The TPM chip is designed for security feature which you might see it in most IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad.
