Just a warning for anyone looking to purchase a laptop.
A summary of this pathetic excuse for a company:-
They charge you to check the laptop is working before shipping!
I didnt take this service and received a dead one.
They refused to refund my Saturday delivery charge even as a gesture of goodwill.
They insisted I use the manufacturer warranty even though I received it dead from them.
Eventually after much arguing arranged for a refund. They collected the laptop(after trying to make me pay for the return), then they sent another one!
Still trying to get my money refunded over a month after they receivied the laptop back, excuses galore - cant see it in their stock etc (even though it is their delivery firm bringing it back to them).
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with on the net and almost makes me want to cease with Internet Shopping.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

All the suppliers normally ship sealed boxes unless you pay extra to have the box opened and the contents checked.
What they should have made clear to you is that if it didn't work (or has another problem) when you received it then you phone Samsung support who will give you an RMA number. These problems are known as DoA (Dead on Arrival) and need to be logged into the Samsung system so that the supplier gives the problem computer back to Samsung and gives you a new replacement. It's a little different from warranty, which implies repair.
I went through this last year with the Q70 which was missing its wireless card (see my review) but the return process went very smoothly (a different supplier who no longer sells Samsungs). I understand that Samsung had to recall the whole first batch of the Q70s since they all had the same bit missing.
There is the underlying problem that the suppliers with the most competitive prices have to cut corners somewhere, and that is with the customer service and support. 99% of the time this is no problem since the transaction goes smoothly and the product is fine. You will get better customer service and support from people such as Insight. But you pay a bit more up front.

Boy have I paid for it with their customer service.
Absolutely without question the worst customer service I have encountered in my life! It really beggars belief!
I was fuming to the point that I decided to post about it, which I normally wouldnt think of doing.
@ X2P They only started acting after I sought legal advice through office of fair trading, but they are taking their time about refunding my account.
Anyway rant over it's all in hand now, but just wanted to warn people off them. -
I agree with John, I brought from LaptopsDirect and was the cheapest, they gave me a "24/7 Support Hotline" and when I tried (3x) it would do the usual waiting tune and then just cut me off after about 8 mins.
On the other side, my HP developed a fault with the hinge, I called PC World and they just assumed I want it fixed and we arranged that someone would come and collect it within 2 days and it was back to me 5 days later good as new. In total it was a 10 minute phonecall -
I should have seen this thread before I made a silly mistake.
I have bought a Samsung Q45 from saveonsamsung but as soon as I turn the machine on I have realised that the LCD screen has a crack through it.
Have been arguing about this with customer service but I have to get a samsung's reference number. Well, have been ringing to samsung customer service, none of IT service member was available so they would ring back?? this is a joke!! Been waiting for two days, and of course argue with samsung customer service for 4 times already but nothing happens..
What should I do??
SaveonSamsung is saying that they will replace it once I get the reference number from samsung, but I want a refund!! I was told that I will be able to get refund if I send the item with my cost?? No way!!! Why should I spend my money to send the faulty item back??

I found getting an RMA number from Samsung very easy. The problem is that saveonsamsung now have my laptop awaiting an "engineers assessment" for a simple problem that can be diagnosed by turning on the PC (no operating system!). I am banging my head against a brick wall trying to hurry on this assessment. I've decided today that I am going to cancel the order and get it elsewhere.

The unit had fingerprints all over it and the screen cover had been re-attached.
I phoned Play and told them that I wasn't happy and wanted a new/sealed box.
They arranged for Parcelforce to pick it up from my workplace the next day and a new black one was delivered to me yesterday (24/11).
I'm still waiting for my £299 refund from Saveonsamsung, for the unit I have never received. -
I will never us them again. What a mess.
I paid Play.com £285 and I have £12 cashback due. -
that would seriously annoy me. i was thinking of getting some stuff from play.com, dont think ill bother now. -
I had 2 samsung laptops and 1 mobile phone. Now I am a Dell user and I found they are much more better on customer service. -
Hey i found this forum when researching my new laptop purchase. I did go ahead and order from saveonsamsung.com yesterday afternoon and it arrived less than 24hours later. I didnt go for the precheck as i felt it to be somewhat overpriced for what it is! The laptop itself seams to be working fine, its currently making a recorvery partition so i havent played with it yet. I had a good look on the screen and cant see and dead pixels etc, (i used to work for Acer, and get alot of angry customers due to dead pixels and there pixel policy!). I got the R710, and hope to use it as a music recording tool with a MOTU 828mk3 "sound card". It seams dead quiet too at the moment, unlike the beefy rack mount PC sat under my studio desk! The only thing id fault saveonsamsung on is i never recieved a single email from them, no invoice as stated i would get on the site, the only email i got was from the courier giving me a tracking number. I will be contacting them to get an invoice as i do need one for my tax return!!!!
Hope this helps someone somewhere!!! -
my advice (from experience): always phone the manufacturer first, i phoned samsung when i have issues and they give me the reference number and always know everything i have said over the phone. Contrary to JasonCF, i have always found Samsung customer services very reliable and easy to talk to. maybe he just had an arrogant person on the phone. i sent off my laptop and they delivered it back to me the next day, the only issues i had is of the quality of the service (which is carried out by DigiUK)

I realise there are a lot of bad reviews for this company...and I thought I should respond for the reason that I just bought a nc10 and the reviews here and elsewhere gave me a lot of anxiety waiting for the computer to arrive. I decided to go through saveonsamung cause the nc10 was almost 10 pounds cheaper and had free shipping. I was first put off by the fact that you don't get an email confirming your order. The next day i called them to confirm and a polite bloke said that it had been processed. I didn't get the "precheck" thing that everyone is talking about - what's the point of going for the lowest price if you give it back to them for something like that. Besides, I know my rights...if there's anything wrong with it I'll complain first to them and then to my credit card company.
Anyway, long story short...the computer arrived and it was fine. worked perfectly, no dead pixels etc. If you are wondering why i went with them after the negative feedback, it is because they are indeed listed on samsung.co.uk's site as recommended retailer. So even in the case things went badly, I could appeal to samsung to send me a new computer directly. i hope those that have had bad experiences don't get on me (as has been done before) accusing me of working for them. i just a first year doctoral student that needed a portable computer for my studies.
by the way, nc10...best £280 i've ever spent -
I have bought something from them and i would order through them again if i wanted to buy a Samsung and they had it at the right price. The service was ok and i personally don't really have any complaints.

I read all of the above comments before buying my Samsung R510 from Saveonsamsung and was a little worried about placing the order as you can imagine but a gut instinct made me push on. So far I have NO regrets - I DIDN'T bother with the pre-delivery inspection and it arrived the following day in perfect working order. I did receive various text messages 3 days later telling me about the progress of the order which was quite amusing but neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things.
So based on my experience so far, I would highly recommend this company. If I have any problems with the laptop in the future, I'll let you know how well they deal with them. -
After reading several posts about saveonsamsung i am of the view that they are a poor company, should be avoided and reported to trading standards for poor compliance with consumer law.
No company should be disregarding the rights of consumers even if they do offer products at a marginally cheaper price.
I would advise all of those in the UK to read the below link regarding the sale of goods act.
http://www.which.co.uk/advice/understanding-the-sale-of-goods-act/your-rights/index.jsp
Essentially if you have bought something from saveonsamsung and on arrival or shortly after it is or has become faulty, you have the right within a reasonable amount of time (of having the item in your possession) to reject the goods and request a refund from saveonsamsung.
They cannot insist you contact samsung for an rma number if you are trying to get a refund or even repair/replacement, this is completely irrelevant.
They know it is, look at their own returns policy, which starts at clause 3, ends ar 3.6.
http://www.saveonsamsung.com/Warranties
No mention of contacting Samsung for an RMA.
You have a legally binding contract with saveonsamsung, not samsung. If the goods fail to conform with this contract, it is for saveonsamung to remedy this breach.
When you buy a product in a shop, like Tesco, Argos, Comet, Currys, do they say you have to contact the manufacture for an RMA???
There is only one reason why i can think they are stating this.
Lets imagine you got an RMA for samsung. They will then ask you to send the item to them, not saveonsamsung.
If you do this and send the item to samsung, you have just invoked the manufacturers warranty.
As a result you have done an act inconsistent with ownership and have waived your right of rejection under the sale of goods act against the seller, in this case being saveonsamsung. Meaning no refund.
Perhaps this is their underlying reason for the RMA request from samsung, they are hoping you will be stupid enough to send the item to samsung.
Sounds like a good scam to me.
All those having problems with saveonsamsung, report them to trading standards if they are being difficult.
Furthermore the pre-inspection check is nothing more than a gimmick with the intent of making additional profit and they cannot use this as an excuse to deny a refund, repair or replacement.
This company sounds like a joke.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself well enough. In my case, I first contacted Samsung support to confirm whether or not the computer should have included a wireless card.
By then getting an RMA, it meant there was an easy path for the retailer to pass the problem computer back to Samsung. The computer, however, went back to the retailer who then refunded me.
I could have returned it to the retailer without the RMA in accordance with the distance selling legislation, but it is better, when possible, to make life easier for the retailer. Some retailers, if given an RMA number, are willing to do a direct replacement of a new computer with the courier doing a direct swap.
