Hello,
I am desperate to find a working solution to my issue:
I have a NP700Z5A-S03SG computer, with Windows x64 Professional. The initially installed version of Easy Settings "worked", the main window would open (albeit after one or two minutes sometimes, I can't believe Samsung has so poor quality checks of their "software").
Then I tried updating to 1.1.1.2 and I could no longer open the main window: it would just start loading and then get stuck, using 13% of the CPU, as if it entered an infinite loop.
I tried the latest 1.1.1.4 version, I uninstalled and reinstalled the initial version using Easy Software Manager (I reinstalled Easy Software Manager too), I uninstalled many programs I had installed in the mean time, to no avail.
I tried running ControlCenter.exe in compatibility mode, administrator mode (the user is already an administrator), I monitored I/O entries using Process Monitor. After it gets stuck (the last I/O entries are accessing C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Easy Settings\res\UI_SCC_0409.ini which is a translation file for English), every few minutes I can see a series of registry activity that tries to access keys within {0c15d503-d017-47ce-9016-7b3f978721cc} (PortableDeviceValues Class) and {3882134d-14cf-4220-9cb4-435f86d83f60} (PortableDeviceValuesCollection Class). These are related to PortableDeviceTypes.dll which is a Windows component. There is no phone plugged into my computer.
I have no idea what is causing this much trouble. The function keys work normally at startup (even if they are very laggy, as we all know, thanks Samsung for releasing so crappy software), I just can't access the Easy Settings window.
What can I try to make this work? I can't afford to reinstall everything, especially as I would fear that this issue happens again since I don't know the cause. I did thorough searches on the Internet without finding anyone encountering this issue.
Your insight is appreciated!

I think the underlying problem is that Samsung is trying to create a universal version of Easy Settings that will work with all their notebooks but is failing to do enough compatibility testing. This is not helped by the program doing driver and software installation as well as being an interface for changing some settings.
If you have got System Protection enabled then you can restore you computer to a time prior to updating Easy Settings. Otherwise there may be no alternative than to start from a clean Windows installation.
