    Hi.

I have had my SS7 for about 2 months now and it had been acting weird for the past 3 weeks. I had to format it 3 times because it would freeze at startup and I couldn't do anything about it.

Just now, I was using it normally then put it to sleep. I woke it up by pressing the power button and it gave me the "cannot start up" with the error 0x000000f.

Any ideas how this came about?

There's a possible suggestion here (and Google will give you more) but they relate to Vista.

Windows 7 has a repair option which may fix any boot issues but you may need to create a repair disk.

The other possibility is that your S7 can't see the disk drive at boot but that should result in a BIOS report about a missing boot device. I recall seeing a few reports about S7s with that problem, apparently due to a cable problem.

Try John's suggestion. If all fails, then it seems to be an intermittent flex HDD cable problem.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I tried everything but I gave in and just returned it for store credit at the Microsoft Store.
