Does anyone know what exactly the 'Etiquette Mode' on Samsung notebooks do?

I have a Samsung R50, and all the user manual says is
"You can select Etiquette Mode when you require a quiet operating environment. Caution: In low-noise mode, the operational speed of a program may be slowed down because the CPU operates at minimum speed, and the system may overheat because the fan is rotating only at low speed"

So does it just throttle down the cpu and fan to minimum speed?

I think it also mutes the speaker. I'm playing around with this on the Q1.

It throttles down the CPU speed and fan speed.

it's like the opposite of the turbo button on my old 486, i never found a reason why that should be anything other than 'on'.

With the latest (08XA) BIOS for the X60, etiquitte mode raises the fan start temperature to around 57°C instead of the normal trigger temperature of around 52°C, so there is less fan use.

However, the computer, particularly the left palm rest, gets uncomfortably warm.
