This will be my first time buying a new laptop and I'm very interested in Samsung's lines. I've liked the QX410 and RF510-S01, they're both i5 and I believe they have the same graphics processor. They're both going for about $750. You guys may be familiar with these laptops, which do you think has a slight edge over the other? or is overall the better deal?

My impression is that the QX series tends to be a bit thinner and lighter than the R series. This usually means a price premium so I'm surprised to see the same price. If you can provide links to the two models that you are considering then we can examine the specs in more detail.

Digital Jay.....What are you looking for in a laptop? What specs are important to you? I was looking at both of these models for the longest time. The QX410 is a 14" display but with the high bevel when shut is a 15"+ laptop. To me the defeats the purpose of getting a 14" laptop. The battery is a polymer version like the Mac Book however the battery is sealed inside the shell. The QX410 ranges from $750 (on sale) to $899 most of the time it was $799.

After months of reading reviews and watching video's I decided on the Q430 version. It was an black brushed aluminum top with silver brushed aluminum inside, I5, 14" screen, 4GB Ram expandable to 8GB, 500GB HD, Intel HD & NVIDIA 310, island style keyboard, trackball like touchpad that is completely customizable, DVD burner, 4hr battery. All of this for $599!!

This was the lowest cost I5 that I have found. I3 is underpower and I7 is a battery drainer.

If the QX410 was truly a 14" laptop without that annoying high bevel on the bottom of the screen I would have considered that one more seriously.

    Hope this helps.

unfortunately the RF510-S01 and S02 are out of stock at amazon and I doubt I can get them for the prices mentioned above on another site. I'll take a look at the Q430.

and I'm always looking back at this thread if anyone else wants to help me, but help seems scarce on this website.

Yes thanks for your help, but I wasn''t referring to you because I didn't even know if you were going to look back at this thread. This thread has like 200 views and 2 replies, that's the lack of help I'm talking about.
