    Samsung R480-11, Windows 7 home premium 64bit

Fn + Up Arrow = supposed to make screen brighter
Fn + Down Arrow = supposed to make screen dimmer

doesnt work. doesnt do anything. But if i press the Fn key + Left or right arrow then it decrease/ increase volume. that works, so does the mute button.

also the fn + WLAN doesnt work and some other combo of Fn keys

the weird thing is that if I open Device Manager(dont do anything in there, just have it open) all the combos of Fn work. the brightness control will work, the wlan will work... but if i close it, then im back to same problem...wierd..
    stumped

    please help....

    thank you
    erik

Yes, if already installed. Otherwise run the Easy Display Manager installation program. First go to the Samsung website and download the latest version of the program.

I'm puzzled. Installing other software should not mess up what is a fairly low level program, but perhaps it has happened. Samsung support may well recommend that you revert to the Samsung-provided Windows installation.

Just watch that they don't wipe all your files. The standard test in these situations may be to reinstall the factory image: If the machine works as supplied then something you have installed has messed thing up. You should be able to use the Samsung SRS to make an image of C: as it is now.

ok, I took it to geek squad. The guy said that it has multiple registry errors and that it could have been caused by a number of things. He said unfortunately to fix this would not be covered under warranty because it was a software issue that caused the problem, and I would have to pay about 130 bucks for them to restore my computer. screw that.
I took my laptop home, backed up data, and pressed F4(recovery partition) during boot process. went thru the cycles and WaLa! New computer again. updated and stuff, everything works fine now. Im happy. for now..freakin windows...

    thanks guys for your comments
