    GPU never downclocks??

    Hi all,

    It seems that my GPU never downclocks itself. I use GPUZ to check the frequency of my 8600 GS and it's always at 500/700/1000. Did anybody else experience this?

    I am quite worried, because it would ultimately affect my battery performance. In addition, I only get around 2700pts in 3DMark06 is that normal for a 8600mGS 256MBDDR3?

    2700 in 3DMark06 looks to be in the right range. See the table at notebookcheck.

    I can't comment on the downclocking. I'm not into tweaking nVidia GPUs. You may get more help in the gaming and graphics cards forum.

    Hi John,

    I'm not into overclocking/downclocking either. What I mean is that the GPU should be able to downclock itself when it is not doing much, similar to a CPU. However, mine doesn't seem to do that...

    And according to the information, my GPU is always running at max, which doesn't seem right to me...
