A friend of mine updated to Windows Vista (Business) yesterday.

Surprisingly, the installation ran without any problem. Also working is fine. It doesn't need much more time than XP did. But if you move the mouse into the sidebar the cpu load nearly explodes. But the system isn't getting slow then.

The driver support is nearly perfect, only the sound driver doesn't come out of the (Vista) box. The driver for XP from the installation CD works without any complication.

Some kind of performance indicator indicated 3.6. The description for this indicator is cryptic, so I can't say wether this is a good value.

My personal opinion is that Vista looks good (for sure), runs with less powerful hardware than Microsoft admits and it offers you a wider range of preferences (some things copied by Linux).

I'm running a Q35 on Vista Ultimate. AVSNow is installed on whatever partition that it was factory installed at but I can't seem to run the Recovery CD that came with the Q35 so that I can install the Cyberlink Suite in order to fully functionalize AVSNow. Any suggestions? When I insert the CD, it keeps giving script error so I'm assuming something on the CD is conflicting with Vista.

I bet Vista doesn't support the scripts on the CD any more.
Can you open the CD manually?

Yes, I was able to explore the files contained on the CDs. There're 40ish folders in there so I had to check out all the setup files on there. I found the AVS Premium & Power DVD install files but Vista doesn't seem to be cooperating since it actually froze in the middle of the installation. When I rebooted, the apps are on the system but AVSNow would not open any DVDs :( At this point, i think I'll continue testdriving Vista for another 2 weeks and unless Samsung releases updated drivers, I'll just revert back to XP.
