    Hi @amishra123,

If I were in your place and after taking the backups, I'd reformat and install Windows 10 all over again.

You will have options to delete the partitions while installing windows 10, after which windows will set up its own partitions.
I'd be very happy with that.

If Disk 2 still exists, I don't think you should mess with it. The software that the SSD comes with will try and use it as an express cache disk.

The SSD, is a sandisk and the only software it came with is mainly for monitoring etc. But the SSD is undoubtebly faster than the express cache disk, surely it would just be pointless and slow things down if the ssd used it cache !!!?!

Yeah, I see what you are saying. But I have literally just installed all my programs and drivers and everything again, really dont feel up to going through the WHOLE process again! haha

Is there a backup I can perform, which just backs up the C drive and not the whole partitioning structure etc? Does the windows system image work like this?

So what I am saying is , some kind of back up now which lets me then reformat and clean install windows 10, letting it wipe all the other partitions. Then restore from the backup, leaving me with my current os and data, but without all of the current recovery partitions I have.

Which type of backup should I do for this?!

    @amishra123: Again, welcome to NBR.

In addition to the excellent advice already provided by @Gulfmaster, I will add that your assumption is correct: You should NOT install ExpressCache now that you have a much faster SSD in the computer. It will only slow down disk access and cause unnecessary wear.

That subject is actually discussed quite frequently here in the Samsung forum. Last time (as I recall) was here which also goes into other potential uses of the iSSD.

Thank you very much for the reply @dennemand ! I will format it to NTFS and use it as extra space in that case! I have seen a few people asking about trying to install a linux distro on there. While people have given possible solutions to their problems,ie using easy bcd to add it to the boot loader do you know if anyone has succeeded?!

Yes, some have succeeded installing an OS on their iSSD. That recent thread you are referring to had a link to a success story. If my iSSD were bigger than 8GB I would do it myself - and I'm pretty sure I would succeed

I most certainly know that the windows system image can do that for you but you might encounter errors if there is a size mismatch.
It is easily solvable by making the partition sizes match to that of the image then deleting and extending the partitions.

If you don't really want to give it a go, then deleting the redundant partitions would be the easiest.

    Friends i need help.
i have downloads the image of admin tool of SRS6 [6.0.12.4]
i have boot from usb and done steps 1 (disk partitioning boot)
done step 2 (disk partitioning data)
done step 3 (install recovery area)
    done step 4 (MBR fix)
done step 5 (copy init image) i have used the factory image i have made a backup when i bought my laptop.. (ps: i am doing all this only beacouse my old hdd have broken..)
i dont know what is BPR image, so i skipped
i skipped step 7 because i dont know where i found the SystemSoftware
done step 8 (install windows) in the partition called "data" reserved for the OS
and after windows 8.1 installation, done step 8 (fix init image)

but when i try to recovery my factory image, the SRS6 returned me the message "there is support for recovery on this computer"
i think this is happening because i have skipped the step 7 (copy SystemSoftware)
so, someone know what i have to do in this case? i think is because the step 7... someone know where i can find the SystemSoftware for the SRS6?

@Endryl Bishock - Hi and welcome to NBR.

I have noted that the version of SRS6 that you are using is different from the one I used (6.0.6.5).
If there any way that you could make the USB admin tool of the same version?, then this should solve the problems you're facing.

I don't have any experience using your version of the admin tool, but I will still try to help.
What is the file that the SystemSoftware is asking for? - when you click the browse option, sometimes you will get the name of the file that the program is looking for.

    Hello @Gulfmaster, thank you.
so, i have downloaded this version i have find in here http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...t-have-a-hdd-backup.758403/page-3#post9747850
    (or direct in here mega:///#F!s8gwWBxb!uEnBImJKatdqN64rN7utww)
i have used this version because the skin remember the factory program..
for make the usb bootable i have extract the iso and used this program: http://www.mediafire.com/download/wht5ya46az648p2/RMPrepUSB+2.1.600_REL.exe

i think this SystemSoftware is the SRS6 that go in the hidden partition for F4 work.. i guess
because my F4 is not working.
and when i log in windows, when i put the SRS6 to restory the factory image the windows call me for restart but after say "there is support for recovery on this computer" (like the image i have posted) i think its because i dont have this partiton with the SRS6 for press F4 ..
i dont remenber if have it on the image i have created the USB ..

you have to activate the recovery settings for the F4 link to work.
This is on the guide on the first post of this thread.

ok...this is because you are using an old version of Samsung Recovery 6.
    You need version 6.1.0.1.
You will get this after you install Samsung Update.

Once you install the new version of 6.1.0.1, run the admintool.exe in windows and follow steps 1 to 3.

Please post back with your results.

Ok...I also notice that the recovery data partition was set at 6GB... This should be 10GB.
The recovery boot partition should be 1GB.

ok...if you have followed the instructions exactly, I really don't see why you shouldn't be able to install the recovery.
Have you formatted your drive completely?
If you are going to install windows all over again, it's worth a shot.
Do a full format, not a quick format. It will take time but at least we can eliminate any possibility of ghost partitions,

    @Endryl Bishock,

To be honest, ever since @Gulfmaster created this thread, I have happily relied on him providing his excellent help to members who needed re-creating SRS. This is particularly true with SRS6, since my hands-on experience is based mostly on SRS5, and I don't have a spare Samsung laptop on which to perform SRS6 experiments.

So I am afraid all I can add at this point is to refer to our original SRS backup and re-creation guide which contains summary of the procedures (for multiple SRS versions) and lots of links to posts with specific details.

The admin tool for 7.2 is all in your 7.2 recovery download, however quite tricky to extract.
Here is what I did to get a working SRS 7.2 Admin tool:

Prerequisite: A bootable WinPE5 environment (can use the one from SRS6)

    1. Extract BASW-A0419A09 to an empty directory of your choice. This will also extract the needed WIM file SRS7_2WinPEx64.wim (in BASW-A0419A09\Recovery\UpdateWinPE).
Unfortunately you cannot mount this with DISM, so you will need WIMLIB instead.
    2. Download WIMLIB ( http://wimlib.net/downloads/wimlib-1.8.2-windows-x86_64-bin.zip)
    3. Using wimextract extract the contents with SRS7_2WinPEx64.wim (image 1) to an empty directory of your choice
    4. Mount the bootable WinPE5 environment to a logical drive letter (diskpart -> select volume -> assign letter [WinPE-Letter])
    5. replace [WinPE-Letter]:\source\boot.wim file with the boot.wim from the extract of step 3 (make sure you keep a backup of the original boot.wim)
    6. copy the extracted \Recovery folder (see step 3) to [WinPE]\ (root)
    7. Boot your WinPE recovery environment. It will now boot into SRS 7.2
    8. In the recovery console open the admin tools: Press 'Ctrl-Shift-F10', Password is 'SECOS'
    9. You can now create your SRS 7.2 admin USB stick.

To restore the original WinPE environment:
    1. Restore boot.wim from backup (step 5)
    2. Delete \Recovery folder

Please realized this whole crazy process. But when I try to realize the admin USB stick creation. He leaves not select the pendriver. He always leaves as the standard pendriver that held the boot recovery. Disallowing I realize the creation of admin USB stick. It is the question. How do I select the pendriver for me to realize the creation. ?

Yes, you're right until here and now : AdminTool_for_SRS6.iso\WinClon\AdminTool.exe\Click on "Run" button :
on STEP 1 : Install Recovery
    then
STEP 2 : Finalize Recovery Setting
    then
    STEP 3 : Initial Backup

    Done !
    Don't press 'F4' at start up !

Hi, I'm assuming that you have fastboot and secure boot disabled.
Did you run the settings.exe file with administrator privileges?
What version of recovery are you using? It should be 6.1.0.1

for the initial backup, you have to use v6.1.0.1.

Did you continue to run step 1 and try the process?

If that didn't work, try creating a new USB admintool after getting v6.1.0.1 and try the steps again.

Please let me know what the outcome is. thanks!

Once your initial backup is done, you may rollback to the previous version to take regular backups.

    Hi,
Sorry, I'm travelling at the moment.

the USB admin tool is bootable USB stick that you use to first create the samsung partitions. where did you get yours from? how did you create the recovery partitions?

After updating to v6.1.0.1, the Admin Tool can be created by booting into the samsung recovery environment (using F4) and then pressing Ctrl+Alt+F10 to get into advanced options. The password to use is either " secos" or " secclx".
Click on the option to create a USB Admin Tool.

If you can't boot into recovery, use the images that have been posted in this thread.

Below is answers for u r questions..

The usb admin tool that i have created is from this same post(mega) download.
I have created the recovery partition by selecting the first 4 check boxes as mentioned in this post.

I m in not able to boot into recovery environment once i installed the windowss. F4 link is not working.. System is not loading into recovery partition...hence i m not able to create usb admin tool.

    Hi @Khaja ,

Could you confirm that Fastboot and Secure boot are BOTH disabled?

    Hi,
    1. I see that you have enabled password on boot. Could you disable it for the moment?
    2. You do not seem to have a "secure boot" option like mine (see screenshot). Please disable UEFI boot support for the time being.

    Hi,

Many thanks for your quick reply..

1.I haven't set the password on boot manually it is set as soon as i set the password for pc while installing windows.. I m not able to disable the password on boot as not enabaled for editing.
    2. Yes, i do not have option similar like you but i m not sure the reason..
I m able to load neither windows nor recovery if i change the UEFI settins as windows 10 supports only UEFI

    Hi,
I follow the whole process and can not restore the area of recuperation.
when it arrives at the copy the files to the partition, nothing is copied and I've tried several times without success. Could someone upload the files on the partition to me ???
