    As I noticed, I am not the only one who wanted to change the applications launched when pressing the special AVS hotkeys.
    I wrote a little utility using the fantastic AutoHotkey scripting application.

    This utility is able to coexist with AVSAgent.exe. If a hotkey is not redefined in this utility, it will pass the hotkey over to AVSAgent.exe, otherwise it will start the application defined in its ini file.

    Install:
    1. unpack
    2. create a shortcut in the the "Startup" folder.
    3. Edit the HotkeyActions.ini file.

    done. Everything you need to know is in the INI file. If you would like to make modifications, the sources are inside the zip file as well.

    I made this utility for Samsung X60, but I believe it could work for X11 (and possibly for other models) as well. Feedback is welcome. :cool:

    Hello there

    thanks for the patch, i havent got it quite working yet, but it is late.

    Is there anyway that you can set them to open a folder, so for example when the pics button is pressed it opens MyPictures.

    Just a thought

    Can you please describe the problem in more detail? The hotkeys are not responding at all, or just do not invoke the action you would like to? What Notebook are you trying it on?

    As for the MyPictures, put the following to the corresponding key in the ini file:
    Photo=%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /e, "<your PATH to MyPictures here>"

    that's it...

    No sorry mate

    let me explain, it was very late last night and i was just browsing the forum, and i suddenly saw your post and thought it ws just what i had been looking for. I've just bought a brand new X60, which i have to say is very nice(although the screen seems a little bit grainy - anyone else found that), so i downloaded it and ran the program and changed the .ini file, bit it didnt work.

    Its nothing against your program, i was just knackered and about to go to bed so i didnt get my full attention.

    Sorry, just another quick question about the X60, when i installed the graphics card driver that came with the computer, in device manager it says the adapter is called the M56. not the X1600 which i thought. Am i just being stupid or is this a problem. ALso there doesnt seem to be an update on the ATI website.

    Many thanks, and sorry for all the questions. I will get the program working tonight when i get home from work, when i'm fully awake.

    Cheers dude

    Jamie

    1. My X60's display is not as good as the 14" display on the Asus W3A which I had previously. Most noticeably it is less bright. I haven't had the opportunity to make side-by-side comparisons with other 15.4" displays.

    2. My X60 has the ATI X1400 GPU which is reported by the Catalyst Control Center as the M54. SiSoftware Sandra reports "Model: M54, Chipset: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400.

    3. If my memory is correct, there is a utility which can be used to patch the standard Mobility Radeon driver to suit different notebooks, but at the moment I can't remember the name.

    Hope this helps,

    John

    Well :) You have to do what the dialogue says:
    There is a "HotkeyActions.ini" file in the directory where you extracted the SamsungHotkeys-v1.zip package. In that file you have to fill in the path to the application you want to be launched for that specific key.

    then your HotkeyActions.ini file would look like this:

    Code:
    [Samsung]
    ; Here you can configure what applications will be started
    ; when the respective hotkeys will be pressed.
    ; If you set 0, the hotkey will be passed further for
    ; AVS Agent - if it is running. If a key is not configured
    ; at all, or has the value 1, you'll get a warning message about it.

    Movie=0
    Photo="C:\Program Files\Picasa2\Picasa2.exe"
    Music="C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe"
    RemoteAVS=0

    cheers thats done it, many thanks a thousand times, thats brilliant haveing those hot keys. AT first i felt a little disappointed with my new laptop, but the more and more a play with it, the more and more i like it. Even the screen, i'm falling for. I think its like moving into a new house, you have to spend a couple of months getting settles before it feels like your own.

    Thanks again

    Hi all, I'm using a X11, just checking, for my model, there's ONLY 1 dedicated AVS key right?
