Exactly half does not light up at all. B H U 7 F7 not lit, but N J I 8 F 8 are. I saw somewhere that this could be a battery issue. The situation is the same whether plugged in or using off battery. Any suggestions? It's a NP940X3G-S03.

My only suggestion is to disconnect / reconnect the cable(s) connecting the keyboard to the mainboard in case a bad connection has developed.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would you know where to look for that cable?

I would assume that it's very similar to my NP900X3B in which case the keyboard connector is the ribbon cable which comes through the gap between the mainboard and the battery (see photo in the link). I'm not sure if there is a second connector for the backlight. It will be evident if you remove the battery (there will also be a connector for the touchpad).

You need a good quality Philips size 0 screwdriver to remove the bottom of the computer. Something with a good handle like this so you can apply controlled force.

    Mine looks quite different: https://uk.hardware.info/reviews/48...0x1800-pixels-photos-samsung-ativ-book-9-plus

I'll look under the battery tonight. I've taken the back off before, so I know those screws are tough. The keyboard functions 100% it is just the backlight. The right side (when facing it), works great, the other side is not lit at all. No flicker, nothing. I read in another link that I cannot find anymore, that the battery could also cause this. I reseated the battery, but no luck.
