    I use a Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook (NP540U3C-A02UB) running Windows 8 (64-bit).

The Bluetooth toggle button in PC Settings (under Wireless) is greyed out, and hence I can't switch it on.

However, I am able to transfer files to my phone from my laptop, but not the other way round. When I try to send a file via Bluetooth from my phone to my laptop, the transfer fails and, according to the phone, the failure reason is 'The remote Bluetooth device rejected the request', even though I have enabled the setting that allows devices to detect my laptop's Bluetooth.

According to SW Update, I have a missing Bluetooth driver. But I am unable to install it no matter what I do, and Samsung's website has no update etc. that can help me. Troubleshooter does not detect any problem with the Bluetooth either.

I have no idea what I am doing anymore, please help me out.

Hi Shivani, welcome to the forum.

Win8's built-in Bluetooth drivers cover basic BT functionality. The Samsung provided PROset drivers come with a lot of bloat, but also add Highspeed 3.0/4.0 support as well as the ability to enable/disable Bluetooth in Settings (and Win8 PC Settings). So you need to install those Samsung drivers to get that feature.

Personally, I just disable the Bluetooth adapter in Device Manager -- which is the same these drivers do. Under Win7, they would actually power down the BT adapter, but that doesn't seem to be the case in Win8.

Check this post for general Win8 driver installation advice.

I bought this laptop Samsung NP700Z7C-S01US 17.3 last August and was happy as hell to have it, i did a bunch of research in this forum before modifying it, put in a 256gb Samsung pro series ssd + 12gb ram, 64gb sd card and i had a BIOS password. I left to Colombia 3 months ago only to have my baby stolen 2 days in. What a catastrophe it was for me, shoot... i just finish paying BB off. Do you guys think that with a BIOS password they can penetrate my laptop, I don't mean to sound like a little girl, but i'm so sad without my laptop..... It's gonna be a while before i get a new laptop as i'am unemployed.

I'm sorry if i put this in the wrong forum or hijacked someones thread.

This isn't really the right thread but there isn't another more relevant one to move it to so I'll give a brief response here.

The BIOS password means that other people can't boot the computer. However, unless the SSD is encrypted, they can remove it, connect to another computer and rummage through it.
