http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6841712139 << Please tell me this was a good deal!

Anyway, its done now, and I want to refurb this poor, neglected Sammy. After some googling I found this site: http://www.pchub.com/uph/catf/itemlist.aspx?catid=1&mid=2724&page=1

I could get the monitor and battery pack from there. I also plan to up the ram to 512mb.

Thing is, I really want a 1400 or 1280 resolution screen at least. Is this possible even though the laptop shipped with a 1024 screen?

Screens seem to go pretty cheap on ebay so I might also buy from there.

Maybe some of you guys can direct me to some places/people/forum members that can best help me regarding parts?

The only thing I'm really nervous about is replacing the screen...

    Thanks in advance!

    EDIT: Links fixed

    Neither of those links work...

Btw. All lcd screens have what is refered to as a native resolution, which effectively means the size of each pixel is fixed meaning the maximum stated resolution for any given lcd screen will be the upper limit with no scope to increase at a later date.

p.s. if you need any drivers / manuals try,

    http://www.samsungpc.com/products/products.htm

    Hope that helps a little

I tried searching the samsung websites, including samsungpc, but couldn't find the RM CY25 laptop

Sorry, my lack of working links has caused confusion, the laptop I bought lacks a screen/hard disk and power supply. I was hoping that I could put in a nice high resolution 14.1" screen instead of putting in another 1024*768 screen like the one it originally shipped with.

It looks for sure nice. I think it's an old model therefore you can't find it (try it under non-available any more).
Is it really that easy to repair the screen??

The CY25 is a model sold by RM,Samsung and CompaL (compal not compaq)
    I too have a cy25 (Rm version) www.rm.com

No upgrade found for the screen sorry!

Drivers are a big problem, go for the older drivers, new ones cause problems..
www.rm.com/support or Try "Driver Detective[/COLOR]" - Well worth £15.00 This scans your system and finds and creates link for all your rquired drivers.

Memory is easy to do, and very cheap! "Crucial or 7dayshop"

Check numbers and manufacturers on every part.. My oem battery should have been £85. I paid £20 from ebay! Listed as dell, panasonic, compal, samsung and RM

    Good luck!!!
