Hi, I bought samsung x360 34p from amazon few days back , this machine is really nice. but I have a big problem with it. It makes annoying high pitch noise, The noise came from the bottom of this laptop. It is not too loud but noticeable and extremely annoying.
DOES any one else experience this same issue as i did . I personaly hate it.

Amazon agree to return it. they can't do exchange or replacement cause they dont sell it anymore. So I cantact samsung, they ask me to send in for repair. Hate it . It is only 1 week old, if I send it in , I have to wait a long time I expect. If they cant fix it , then I might end up can't return it to amazon again. SUCH A dilemma.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY RESPONSE

I don't have the noise like that. Good luck.............................maybe it's the fan dying...

It is worthwhile doing a little investigation about the cause of the noise. Samsung notebooks are usually quieter than average.

Is that noise continuous from the moment you turn the computer on? It is unlikely that the fan needs to start immediately. Can you change the noise by stepping through the Fn+F8 options?

Does the sound diminish when running off battery? It very well could the Intel CPU whine that you're hearing, or maybe not.

I had that system in my cart at 4:30AM EST. There were 6 of them in stock and they all sold. I decided to pass and now I am actually glad I did. Did you get the european plug with yours? I also heard the notebook breaks easily as well.

I will pass on the X360 even at the bargain basement pricing. Its time soon for the next models of notebook PC's as the current crop are dated and the 1.4ULV Cpu is quite slow compared to faster cpus.

Its weird that Amazon gets limited stock on Samsung's and puts out only a very limited supply. Seems like they are trying to micromanage supply extensively.

The one I saw looked solid enough but I wouldn't expect it to be as strong as something with a lot more metal in the construction.

I seem to be missing out on some news. I have the impression that the next generation of Intel hardware won't show up until towards the end of this year. In the current slack market conditions the computer manufacturers are in no hurry to make big changes to their ranges.

The noise is always there , as long as the samsung logo goes up , The noise came with it . It is so annoying . and nomatter how I turn the fn+f8, it is always there, with AC charger connected or not doesnt make any difference also. I place another order for that machine , hope amazon will do it like a exchange or replacemnt.

well , I just discovered that Plug-in the AC charger does make a difference , when the AC is plug-in , the sound goes away or weaken. when it runs on battery , the sound comes back....
Also if goes in bios configuration page, the sound weaken ,yet still the sme thing happen with battery.

one more thing , the AC charger has similar noise ,but very weak in compareing to the noise from laptop .

That does sound like the infamous CPU whine which, if I remember correctly, is actually caused by some of the electronics oscillating when the CPU changes power state. It's rare on Samsung notebooks so you've got a rarity.

Another test would be to stress the system with something like the Prime 95 torture test. This should stop the whine because the CPU is fully loaded.

according to my understanding , the imfamous CPU problem only happen because of loading effect. and how does it related to if the computer is AC-Charging or runs on battery? I dont really think so .

The CPU whine is caused by switching to one or more of the low power states. When you are on mains power then the power management is less aggressive. CPU power management is also disabled when you are in the BIOS (usually the fan comes on quite quickly if you are checking the BIOS options).

One fix that people have used is to run RMClock and disable some of the low power states on the advanced settings page. However, this costs battery time so is not a proper solution.

I'm not sure if this is what you guys are talking about, but I might have this problem as well. The noise is pretty small (I need to put my ears right next to the laptop in order to hear it clearly), so it doesn't bother me as much. Also, the sound seems to come from the bottom of my laptop, not the sides. Based on youtube videos, I think it's "cpu whine."

I can hear the whine (with fan not running) only with my ear right next to the fan vent. Once I move it even half a foot away I cannot hear it anymore, heck I can barely even hear the fan in a completely quiet room. Those that can hear the white, is your fan loud as well? Your hearing may be just extremely sensitive?

Also concerning the rigidity of the notebook as was mentioned before, I can hold, or rather pinch it at the very edges/corners only and suspend it in air and there is zero flex.
