Have you checked your service manual?

Thats my issue, I cant find a service manual, only a user manual.

I tried removing all the screws from the back, and notice i was able to unsnap the top portion (where the fans are), but i cant seem to figure out how the rest comes off.

I'd suggest contacting deerchaser. Seeing as he has successfully disassembled his.

Make sure you have all the screws out the just pop the cover off. It snaps on and off. I ran my fingernail around the edge. There are no screws under the feet like the QX series. When you put it back on, make sure the top edges line up or you will have gaps. The alum palm rest fits inside the plastic rear cover.

I think that's also why I like the Sony SE over the S7, it seems easier to switch out the HDD, replace the battery and even the optical drive slides out (if it's like the SA) so I can put in a 2nd HDD.
