@e186, read what you share before... that it's the i5 low budget version with an Ati HD8850m (??!!)...
Mainly here, we are for the i7 3635QM with 15.6" FHD and Ati 8870M...

It is in route. Should be here tomorrow. Been waiting so long!

People seriously need to calm down. I bet it's just drivers. -
One Amazon.de guy also said it's more like TN-panel like for 17 inch.
If it's true this notebook is crossed out from my list.
No TN for me above 800 bucks. -

I think it is pretty clear how in those benchmarks on NotebookCheck they do not have proper drivers out yet for the 8870m. My proof?
Well, for some games (most) it performs the same as the 650m, while on others, it performs the same or better than the GTX 670m. Clearly, I think you can all agree, this is because of a lack of sufficient drivers from AMD. Yes, they ship with drivers, but they clearly are either placeholder or beta drivers or SOMETHING. Check it out and see for yourself:
AMD Radeon HD 8870M - NotebookCheck.net Tech
Just to name a few: Skyrim, Alan Wake, and Battlefield 3 it all run at the level or above the 670m. However, the newer games it benchmarks around the 650m.
I think this is extremely good news. It's awesome to see it perform at the 670m level on these older games with solid driver support!!! -

Guessing the 8770 version from Best Buy. Not a huge gamer so the difference shouldn't be huge. Ever since CES I've been dying to get it. The ultra looked nice but I'd rather have the 1TB storage. -
Don't think anyone posted this yet: Unboxing of another 8770m with touch model:

I e-mailed with otto this weekend.
This was my last email:
I have family in Germany and they are coming over for the weekend, so I do have a German adress for it to be delivered. The problem is, apart from that I can't really believe it, that I am used to an AZERTY layout which is used in France and Belgium. The German QWERTZ layout is just too different I think. What are your opinions?
Also, I won't see my German family for a few months after this weekend. So if they can't deliver before saturday, which will probably happen I'll have to wait for months or pay quite some shipping fees. What should I do? Thoughts? -
I found out why this machine always has so much memory in use even at clean boot & Idle. Its a samsung app called Intelli-memory and is installed by default. The app doesn't actually show that its using much memory at all but with it 1/2 of your computers memory will always be in use while it will go down to 1.4gb if you uninstall it. It seems to be some type of disk cache, caching your hd to improve performance. This is likely the Ram Accelerator feature touted at CES.
I have it uninstalled right now, It doesn't seem to make any difference in boot times. -
Why Otto? There are other shops:
17 inch: NP770Z7E bei idealo.de
15 inch: NP770Z5E bei idealo.de
13 inch ultra: 730U3E bei idealo.de
Ultra touch: http://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/MainSearchProductCategory.html?q=Samsung+740U3E
Amazon.de has few in stock too. -

Amazon.de says it will take 1 to 2 months? -

Now that I got my performance issue figured out (silent mode, useful but deadly to performance and easy to forget about with no indicator), time for another Another benchmark.

This is extremely disconcerting to me. It makes me believe that every out of US website showing the 15 inch with the 8870 is actually incorrect information, and that the US will NEVER recieve the 8870m version. In which case I will find it very hard to justify buying this laptop if only the 8770m version comes to the US.
This is the one and only thing that keeps me up at night about this laptop. The 8770 is NOWHERE to be found overseas, but it is the ONLY model available in the US. Also, no one overseas can confirm or deny if the 15 inch version over there has the 8870 or 8770. -
This thread is exploding with a lot of useless posts, even though there are some quality ones (e.g. Alchemist). Everyone just calm down until we get a proper review from the likes of notebookcheck, and until we actually see an 8870 model. -
just bought 2 of these from separate bestbuys around MA.
Initial reactions.. i absolutely love it. Definitely one of the better buys if you do not REQUIRE a 8870m.
I only do light gaming, and this suits my needs. Diablo 3 ran at max settings on 1080p between 35-50fps. It might be a little laggy at hardcore fighting scenes but overall my experience has been great. Screen is definitely very good, as this is what you should be buying if spending more than 750$+. JBL Speakers are beyond excellent for laptop experience. They sound better than garbage work speakers.
I ran the WEI benchmark, and its the same as the guys posted above. Looking to install a 840pro later this week.
I gotta downgrade to Windows 7. I gave windows 8 a try for several days, too many effin options all over the place and it was getting difficult to navigate around the metro interface. I will probably run a back of image on this, and install it under vMware so i can use it on demand.
The hard drive itself runs a little slow to be honest, i guess coming from an SSD desktop, you just can't go back. Will report back when i have the 840pro installed, and ill probably take the 1tb and use it as an external.
Overall, experience has been great as long as you're not buying this for hardcore gaming (then you should wait for 8870m). But the 8770m has been more than solid. I'm confident you actually save some battery from using this 8770m. Im averaging about 8-9 hours of light use. Internet/emails/watching videos. Battery gets about 6 hours on diablo3 gaming. -
Well, I found the 17 inch version on Amazon.de. http://www.amazon.de/Samsung-770Z7E.../B00AZLXIX0/ref=cm_rdp_product#productDetails
Do you guys recommend buying this version or waiting for a touch screen version? -

I'm considering going the 8770 route, and probably will add an SSD also. Nice to see strong battery life on this thing. Also impressed with the repeated comments about the speakers, I've been used to horrible laptop speakers for a long time now. -

There is a comment about the 17 on amazon courtesy of google translate "I was looking for a well-made 17 "notebook with an attractive design and came across the 700z7c. Since shortly after the successor should be published, I deliberately waited. has 770z7c The better graphics card (Notebookcheck Graphics Cards place 47 ATI Radeon HD 8870M to Place 65 GeForce GT 650M) and the better price. 770z7e S01 (about 1250 €about 10-20% cheaper than the 700z7c (about 1400 €
. appearance: , Toll, has not so much changed for 700z7c complete aluminum. except the lower case which is made of plastic (but high-quality feel). performance: Here, the performance index of Windows 8 Pro, with installed SSD: Processor: 7.8 Memory: 7.8 Graphics: 7.0 Graphics Games: 7.0 Primary hard disk: 8.1 When working (programming, surfing, videos, music), the notebook between quiet and not audible at computing intensive applications, it is clear to hear.! Positives: - Good workmanship, good design - very good display: Matt, Full HD - good value for the S01 model great Negatives: - the extra price for a device with SSD is something outrageous (is not included in the assessment) - edges may (lie wrists here on) at the front of his slightly rounded - Problems 700z7c series with Ubuntu as a dual boot (goes to hardware failure), have me to moved Ubuntu zuinstallieren in virtual machine - after reinstalling (by SSD) and installing drivers can adjust the screen brightness no longer with the problem I seem not the only to be (not yet found a solution) I would buy the laptop at any time since I have found no better in the 17 ", but I can not give 5 stars because of the disadvantages. After reading a couple pages of comments, for those hardcore gamers who need 8870m, there are better laptops out there strictly for gaming maybe you guys could look somewhere else and not bash this laptop because bestbuys edition come with 8770m. Somethings gotta give, whether its battery, or video card. Next thing you know, 8870m comes out and the laptop gets 4hours at best, and people will continue to bash this. lol -
Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Chronos in twenty-five different languages and in every news she said that this notebook features the 8870M video card. Samsung Italy, Samsung Germany and Samsung France have published on Amazon ONLY version that mounts the 8870M. Then why Samsung would have to present at CES (in Las Vegas), only the version with the 8870M? Las Vegas is just in America, or maybe not?
I'm not the first and I hope to be the last to clarify your ideas: there is, and will soon be introduced to the market, a non-touchscreen version with 8870M graphics card! -
8870m or 8770m shouldn't matter too much for battery life because you'd normally use the intel HD 4000 when on battery. -
-
What programs were you loading before and after uninstall? I'd be interesting if we can get a breakdown of program load for something that is pretty intensive. Games, MATLAB simulators, or something equivalent? -
My reasoning for what you bolded up there is that the 8770 version is here in the US, but NOWHERE to be found in other countries. What is the reasoning for that? Also, if I'm not mistaken, hasn't noone even recieved a Chronos 7 that lives out of the US? It seems the few owners posting on here (Alchemist) are from the US. No one out of the US seems to have this laptop. -

Would someone please answer my question since I have asked it twice with no answers.
How are some people getting this at Best Buy when I went to two local ones and neither have heard about it or have it in stock. Just the older one. I am in San Antonio, Texas. -
Non-touchscreen model? Hell no. -

Is there someone here who is waiting for the 8870 NON touch version? Or am I alone??

I first became aware of it by walking into a best buy and seeing it on display. that evening I went to a different best buy on the way home and they had no idea what it was, so the next day I went back to the original store and they were sold out... it took until last friday for them to get it back in and I nabbed the only one they had. Just about every store in town has it now though.
