PC World came out with some ideas that I wanted to do but my system won't let me. One was to avoid the windows 8 password screen. They said to press the windows key and the X key together and then select "command prompt (admin). Then type control passwords2 in the text field and press enter, deselect "must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Then your supposed to type in your password and OK twice and reboot. When I rebooted, it took me to the administrator page and I was unable to access the internet from their. I also wanted to put a shortcut on my desktop to shutdown from there but when I followed the instructions, it said that it could not find the file. This was in command prompt. I would like to turn the computer on and it goes straight to my desktop. I am far from being a computer wiz. I can follow instructions but they have to be basic. Is anyone else having trouble with their NP900?

My laptop is a Samsung NP900X4c-A03US

I don't get a password prompt but I didn't set a Windows password (but I have a BIOS password). Can you try to modify your password so it is empty?

You can try these instructions for setting the boot to desktop. Or you can download the trial version of Start8 and see if that does the trick. If so, then you could consider paying your $4.99.
